Weíve done practically every other Nintendo franchise with at least 10 entries at this point (actually probably not even close, but whatever), itís time for Donkey Kong! One of Nintendoís oldest living franchises, Donkey Kong is still cranking out the hits. Sure, the franchise spawned the Super Mario games, which went on to become much more successful than the Donkey Kong games ever did, but donít write off the big ape! There are many great Donkey Kong games in the Nintendo library to check out, maybe even more than you realize!.. (more)

Oh yes friends, it is time for our top 10 Mega Man games! Iíve recently posted top 10 game lists for Mario and Metroid, which added to the Zelda, Kirby and Castlevania lists that we already had, all of which you can see here. With Mega Man primed to make his Smash Brothers debut in the near future we hope, it felt like the right time to talk about his best games. And the way Capcom has been handling Mega Man lately, this may very well end up being a list of the best Mega Man games that stands up to the test of time. Please make it not so Capcom... (more)

Metroid is one of the absolute best franchises in video gaming, producing some of the greatest video games ever made, and if you disagree with that obviously true statement you are no friend of mine. However, it isnít exactly as prolific of a Nintendo franchise as Mario or Zelda, and in fact, disregarding re-releases, a trilogy compilation, and a pinball game (yep, there was a Metroid pinball game), there are only ten Metroid titles released to date. Coincidentally, there are only ten spots in a top ten list. I think that we can all agree that this is godís way of telling me that I had no choice but to put together this list. Or the aliens telling me. Either way works... (more)

If there is one character that is synonymous with the company Nintendo, it has to be Mario. Mario made his debut way back in the 1981 arcade game Donkey Kong (although he was called Jumpman at that point), and the success of the game propelled him into the spotlight. However, it was really 1985ís Super Mario Bros. that cemented his role as Nintendoís flagship mascot, a position that he has held without serious challenge ever since. With Marioís next big platformer (Super Mario 3D World for the Wii U) just around the corner, I felt like it might be a good time to stop and take a look back at the games that have led us to where we are... With the recent release of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate for 3DS earlier this year, I figure now is a good time as any to see where the entire Castlevania series stands according to the ratings given by the Negative World community! Over the years, Konami has created true classics spanning many of Nintendo's systems, but which Castlevania games are considered the best? Of course, since our game database only includes games on Nintendo systems (this is a Nintendo site after all), this list will not include Castlevania games from other platforms... (more)

Nintendo fans are celebrating Kirby's 20th anniversary this year, and Nintendo marked the occasion with the release of the excellent compilation, Kirby's Dream Collection: Special Edition, for the Wii. Just recently I was finally able to finish playing some Kirby games that I hadn't played before, and I was very curious to see how the Kirby games rank based on Negative World members' ratings. Yes, your ratings make the difference!.. (more)

The Art Style series is full of clever gameplay concepts wrapped around unique style and presentation. Many are updated versions of games that were originally released on the GBA as part of the 'bit Generations' lineup, but just as many are new concepts developed specifically for the WiiWare and DSiWare platforms... It's been a few months since Skyward Sword's release. Now that everyone who's anyone has finished it, let's take a look at how it ranks among all the other Zelda games. Using Negative World's Game Database, I compiled a list of our community's top ten rated Zelda games. Let's get started... (more)

I have done this twice before, once in July '09 before the massive influx of users, and then once again in March '10, after we gained a whole bunch of new people. As you probably should know, if you are a member (and if you are not, why not join up?) we host a games database where all users can add and rate games on Nintendo consoles. And we also average out all of the ratings, to get a (semi-)official list of the top rated games based on the tastes of the Negative World users... (more)

I did this once last July, before the massive influx of users, so I thought it would be fun to do it again and see how much has changed. The main thing that has changed, of course, is that we have a lot more users now and therefore a lot more voting on games. So for the sake of this write-up, I am only going to choose games with at least 10 votes. I have also decided that in the case of a tie, the game with more ratings wins out. Makes sense to me... This isn't any kind of official Negative World top 10 list or anything, merely a quick look at top rated games as of this day and time, according to our user ratings. Some have more ratings than others, some good games missed the top 10 list from a sole "low" rating, etc. But it's a surprisingly "accurate" list, in my eyes, considering that it is really only based off of a handful of ratings...
