I'm not sure how much press Paper Mario got compared to Super Mario RPG (a game which seemed like EVERYBODY played), though its availability (being well more than SMRPG's legendary hard to find "gotta have it" / stupid expensive status) may've -- in a way -- lessened its impact. It was the first game in a long line of 2-D RPG outings for Nintendo's Favorite Son, and showed us that typical bad guys can be good sometimes, too.
"Koopas and Goombas, living together, Mass Hysteria!! --Peter Venkman playing Paper Mario) Who is your favorite support character? How do you feel about the Badge system compared to other RPG's mechanics?
We've completed the course for Paper Mario as our sixth (wow!) official Epic Center game; Golden Sun is next. You'll notice our "leaderboards" below which were tracking the progress of the participants. If you missed the EC run, and you'd like to play on your own as if it were being done LIVE! for you, simply click on WEEK 1, WEEK 2, etc. and follow along that way. This, of course, is also the destination for the continuation of Paper Mario in the Epic Center, for those who did not finish. You can do it, dudes!------------------------------
Coming off the radical heels of Super Mario RPG (another classic we hope to dive into sometime int he future), Paper Mario squished Mario flat and let him go through a brand new world seeing things in a whole new perspective. It was a game that I personally only got to once, and there were some issues with the game that wore on me a bit, but those were different times.
