Oh, I thought you had said only one city said MAX and the others said slow. Well in that case, I don't know. Perhaps you produced so many bridges when building your towns that you lowered their growth potential enough to make that big a difference?

I have one town that says "slow", and I am missing only one level (one bar compared to the bosses).

Yeah I think I said they're all at Max now. I've been posting a lot haha. I didn't realize that building bridges could be a bad thing?

Edit: Wow, apparently they are bad. Each map has a max number of "units" it can contain, and bridges count as one, thus limiting population growth. And you can't destroy them! Agggggggh.

Edti: BEAT IT. And just yelled "In your fuckin' face" at my TV for the first time in a very long time.

Edit3: I won't lie, I have absolutely no desire to ever play this again. It has its charms, but I still don't quite feel that the whole is bigger than the sum of its parts. It was very satisfying to beat though. I also must confess to peaking at a video on YouTube to help with the boss rush. Shhhh.

Edit4: Wow that DOES sound like the 20th Century Fox fanfare!

Edit5: Can't give you a final score because I didn't save before clearing Death Heim. The only thing I cared about was my health, which I didn't increase all the way. It was one bar short of the max. Thankfully I still made it through okay.

It's not over till the month is over

I still haven't played the game again, but I'm seriously planning on doing so today, and tomorrow as well. If other people here have beaten it over the course of a day, so can I

I'm still interested in the Retro Game Club, but I probably won't mark myself as being up for playing every single game from now on. Sometimes a game will come up that I really just don't enjoy playing, like StarTropics, so with games like those I don't feel compelled to beat them. I may not end up beating ActRaiser either, but I at least want to give it another try today, to see if I enjoy it more than I did a couple weeks ago. I'll try to think more about what games I'm more likely to care about playing in the future.

I like the idea of RGCs, though I prefer the structure of the Okami/FireEmblem Club style. Obviously, you can't do that with a 5 hour game, and you need to be REALLY invested in order to play a 50-70 hour game as those mentioned are. The bad thing about the RGCs (besides the fact that people say "oh, I'll play that" and then disappear) is how some people have the game started and completed before you even "get the wrapper off," (X-pert not included; he kinda waited a long time...) and at that point you can't even "discuss" the game anymore. Thats what draws me most to the other Clubs, knowing that people are going through what you're going through RIGHT NOW (or a day or two prior/later), whereas here they're completely finished, and more or less done with the RGC.

This shouldn't be a knock on Gui (or whoever), or made to make someone feel bad about anything. I'd like to see it continue, sure. What are some nominations for the next game? Ideas? I'm not guaranteed to play (as I won't play a game I really don't want to, and thats okay with me), but if its something I dig, I'll play. chrisbg just squashed Faxanadu, so I guess we're probably not doing that one?

I'm playing the game again. I forgot to save last time so I quickly rushed through the sidescrolling stage, and am in the sim mode again. I now have a little more of an idea regarding what I should be doing, I think. I'm building the town towards one of the monster markers, so that the people can destroy it once they reach that area. I hope that's right.

Yeah, they'll seal it up. You'll notice that when you do that, it says that your town's level improved, or something. Standard of living? I can't remember the words. Anyway, once they do that, they'll build better houses, which hold more people, which contribute to your population. When your population increases, so do your hit points for your sidescroller guy. I'm sure you're doing fine!

I beat Fillmore 2 and cleansed Fillmore of all monsters. I'm already level 3 right now
