I tried this game for a little last night. It took me a long time to figure out what to do, because once I entered the world map, I moved around first before trying anything, so then almost every place I tried to do something in told me "You need to be level 2/4/10/etc. in order to go here), which got pretty annoying. Eventually I found the first level area, and I entered it.
The sidescrolling action platforming is pretty neat. It feels a little like Castlevania; the movement here is a little stiff as well (you have more control than in Castlevania though, which I like), and the music is especially similar. I really like the moving tree guys; they're cool. I managed to beat the whole level, plus the boss, without dying once (although I had only one hit point left at the end). I like the action part of the game.
The city-building sim stuff, on the other hand, I didn't like. I had no idea that you would have to fight enemies in the overhead view! I was trying to burn some bushes, and out of nowhere some bat starts attacking me! A couple minutes later I tried pressing Y, and found that you could shoot at them. You have limited ammo however, and I eventually ran out of both that and magic points, so I didn't know where to proceed from there. I decided to just stop playing right then. I don't think I saved my game, so I'll probably have to redo the first stage again, which I don't mind.
I really don't get the sim stuff at all. I'll read through this thread though, in case anyone happens to have covered it here up to now. |
