@Guillaume

Ah.

@malmo

Whoa! Really, I should tear down some houses? Thats not very nice!

@sirmastersephiroth

Thanks! To clarify, it has been saying "Slow." I'm just at the start, so I have only Fillmore totally done (Slow), and then Bloodpool was like "aww yeah, we connected a road, so now they have WHEAT." But still Slow. I'll figure it out.

But really, NatDis time??

Tear them down ONLY WITH EARTHQUAKE!

@sirmastersephiroth

Are you being serious? I can't tell. And they'll just go rebuild? I don't want to ruuuuin anything.

I've played only the little first side scrolling part so far. Act 1. But it's... interesting. Combat seems basic thus far but it wasn't boring. Takes a bit to get used to where the "hit" zone is. And that boss was annoying but his "gimmick" to beat him was clear immediately.

@DrFinkelstein

Be sure to put it in your "Now Playing!" thing on the database!

@Mr_Mustache Dead serious. If you use lightning you might destroy your crops.

I'm playing Professional Mode right now. It's not that bad. I'm sure it'll be brutal when I get the Death Heim, though.

@sirmastersephiroth

Alright, sooo, I return to Fillmore, whip out an Earthquake, and then what? Just..wait?

If your folks have switched to building factories, then it's actually a good idea to zap the fields. The people will build factories over them which can support more people. Isn't industrialization wonderful?

No score?

For some reason, my debit card that I always use isn't going through on my Wii right now...so I'm mainly reminiscing about the good times of playing this game last year. Shameful!

A lot of the information in this thread is new to me, though, like wrecking a village to make them build better homes.

One of my favorite parts was in the desert segment where you learn the "music." That's probably the best song in the game, and there's an orchestrated version of that and the main theme floating around the 'net somewhere.

I tried my hand at the Professional Mode and got my ass handed to me in act 6-2. That tree level is insanely hard. I'll give it another go on Saturday since I work tomorrow.
02/10/12, 04:20
I started playing again and beat the damned tree level. I am now at Death Heim. Wish me luck.

Just beat the Professional Mode!! The bosses are not that hard after you know their patterns. Some of them, like the Minotaur, you just have to outlast. I even found a safe spot for Tanzra's first form. Just duck in the lower left corner during the meteor shower and wait for it to end. Now to write the review this weekend.

@Guillaume, I am sad I have not been placed in the list of awesome. Speaking of which, there should be a list of awesomest for the people who beat the Professional Mode.

@sirmastersephiroth

Good luck!

I tried this game for a little last night. It took me a long time to figure out what to do, because once I entered the world map, I moved around first before trying anything, so then almost every place I tried to do something in told me "You need to be level 2/4/10/etc. in order to go here), which got pretty annoying. Eventually I found the first level area, and I entered it.

The sidescrolling action platforming is pretty neat. It feels a little like Castlevania; the movement here is a little stiff as well (you have more control than in Castlevania though, which I like), and the music is especially similar. I really like the moving tree guys; they're cool. I managed to beat the whole level, plus the boss, without dying once (although I had only one hit point left at the end). I like the action part of the game.

The city-building sim stuff, on the other hand, I didn't like. I had no idea that you would have to fight enemies in the overhead view! I was trying to burn some bushes, and out of nowhere some bat starts attacking me! A couple minutes later I tried pressing Y, and found that you could shoot at them. You have limited ammo however, and I eventually ran out of both that and magic points, so I didn't know where to proceed from there. I decided to just stop playing right then. I don't think I saved my game, so I'll probably have to redo the first stage again, which I don't mind.

I really don't get the sim stuff at all. I'll read through this thread though, in case anyone happens to have covered it here up to now.

@X-pert74 You don't have limited ammo, but I think if your health meter runs down to zero, you can't shoot for like ten seconds or something like that. You should be able to shoot arrows like all the time.

But lol yeah, I too didn't realize you could shoot arrows at first, so I was trying to lightning-bolt all the bats before I figured out what to do...
02/11/12, 17:15
@X-pert74 You have ammo as long as you have health. Once your health runs out, you have to wait until the hourglass resets which will replenish some of your health and SP.

I'm about halfway through the game and I'm having fun of course.
It's so strange because I don't recall the action sequences feeling so stiff. It's all good though, because there's just something about the game that keeps me going.

There's also this, by Stemage of Metroid Metal fame.

@X-pert74
Yeah, nothing says "Castlevania" like medusa heads in Bloospool Act 2.
