Why not sign up for a (free) account?

@Mr_Mustache

I haven't asked support, but i checked online and the troubleshooting didn't help. I don't really mind restarting. I didn't drain too much time searching for the rare stuff. I'll take a chance deleting my profile. If it doesn't work i'll shoot nintendo a call.

@Wilie345

I'd be devastated if that happened to me. DEVASTATED.

A little Hunting of Monsters later?
01/21/11, 03:54
Ugh, I'm like you today. I'll probably get home at 11:30, at the earliest. I'm not sure if I can hunt monsters. I've been staring at a computer monitor for, like, 14 hours. I can't even really see anymore.

@anandxxx

Hurry up you crazy guy!

EDIT- Will be away from the Wii/computer for a while. I'll check back later (later).

I'd literally throw the game away

I started playing Monster Hunter last night. I only had time for about an hour, so I've barely scratched the surface (I've only killed one monster so far... ). There still seems to be a lot of stuff that I'll need to learn before I can even start playing seriously. Hopefully I'll be able to get some good time into the game this weekend.

Also, is it just me, or does the game seem slightly blurry compared to other Wii games? I'm finding the text a bit difficult to read. As well, there are fairly large black bars on the sides of the screen, and I'm sure I have my TV set correctly. I guess that's just the way the game is? Sorry to be nit picky, but I just want to make sure that there's nothing wrong with my setup.

@canonj

Not at all man, I have the same problem with the black bars. It's funny that that didn't even notice until recently when I put the TV in the living room and sat a bit farther from it. The text is also more difficult to read as you mentioned. Congrats on starting Monster Hunter. If it's your cup of tea, the game will have you hooked for a long time coming.

@canonj
Those are the usual nitpicks. It's annoying that they couldn't make the text more readable. Of course a higher resolution would help, but also when you're used to text in Nintendo games, it's hard to go back.
Hope you enjoy the game! I suggest you spend some time offline learning the basics and developing strategies before you hop online.

@canonj

Everytime you log on see if I'm online.

I'm always up to helping new players

I beat Caedus last night. It was a little easy, as I have been playing for 160ish hours online and off. Still, he was freakin: massive. Glad to see some new single player quests open up after, though I:m likely to spend most of my time questing online from now on. I still will need to go back to the village to farm though.

BTW Smerd the OP is ugly now
01/21/11, 19:47
He's kind of a bitch if you haven't been playing online, just because he has so much health.
01/21/11, 19:50
Well I'll probably start this tonight. How accessible is the game for single player? Is it recommended to play co-op? Does the game scale in difficulty and will I get frustrated by playing alone? I honestly have no idea what type of game it is other than the few videos of gameplay that I saw around release.

And canonj, if you're looking for another noob partner, we should try playing together. At least we'll both equally suck at things
01/21/11, 19:51
Play single-player at first. Finish the one- and two-star level on your own to get acclimated to the game. You can only play discrete Arena missions in Co-Op.
01/21/11, 19:52
@anandxxx

Oh so you can't play the entire game with a partner? I noticed on the box that it says offline 2 player is only available in arena mode. I just assumed the rest of the game could be played with other people then. Either way it's fine. I'm just looking forward to see what Monster Hunter is all about.
01/21/11, 20:01
No, you can't. But you can play two-player co-op arena battles online, in addition to the four-player multiplayer mode.

After familiarizing yourself with the game, you n00bs should totally play together. I think it's a lot more fun and exciting when you play with people of a similar level.

@VofEscaflowne
Let me know if you need some help, I want to practice my gunning with some noobs! Also wanna get the hang of the switch-axe.
01/21/11, 20:09
Thanks for advice, guys. That was my plan, anyway, to play solo for a while until I understand things a bit better, then I'll venture online. How many hours approximately will it take to complete the one and two star levels?

@VofEscaflowne
Yeah, we should definitely do some noob monster hunting. I bought a second copy of the game for my sister, so assuming she actually plays it we'll have another noob partner to hunt with us.
01/21/11, 20:13
@canonj

Oh cool, monster hunting with the family! If only I could get my brother to join in... although he doesn't even have a Wii

Is there any way to easily communicate in this game? Keyboard support or is the Wii Talk thing the only thing that works?

Keyboard is probably the best way to communicate. Wii Speak works too.
