@FabzI understand what the problem was. At the same time I think both of you didn't handle it well. She really had no right to talk to you like she did, but neither did you. I mean yes, a hammer user usually goes for the head which usually results in KOs but the thing is that if it happens fine, if it doesn't, that's fine as well. You're at least doing damage. With that being said, two wrong don't make a right. You didn't have to follow her little game. The guy who came in did that same thing to me. He spoke something about me using a dragon weapon and not bothering with Sinister Saints. Honestly, I thought that was not a cool thing to say because first of all, Sinister Saints has a fire element, and Lagia is weak to fire. I felt that all of you guys had enough dragon weapons to bring any more. But the main reason was that I hardly ever use Switch axes and I wanted to try it out just for fun. That's what I would have said but I just let it go, because honestly, it wasn't worth getting into an argument over. You have to understand that for every jerk that comes in there are a lot more people that are not like that. Just last week I met a great guy who showed me how to use cluster shots against Alatreon. What I'm going to do from now on is just leave every time I encounter any type of hostility from anyone on MH. By the way, I just reached HR 100. I'm just about done with bowguns. Maybe I'll forge another set and that's about it, unless I'm really bored. Now I'm going after SnS and Switch axe. After playing with it extensively. I've noticed a few things about the LS. You basically use the infinite combo x x a until you fill up your spirit gauge to try to spam the spirit combo or whatever it's called. After you press it for a certain amount of time it goes into this animation that pretty much leaves you open for attack. The good thing about it is that it has ESP, but it's too big a risk to assume. If I can get Mind's Eye using a SnS I'll pretty much have no need for the LS. Even though a LS might have more power (elemental/status and raw) I prefer the versatility that the SnS provides in the long run. I've learned that being able to roll-out pretty much whenever is a great ability to have. Spirit attack with a LS doesn't give you that option. Furthermore, since you're in full control you can get create more attack opportunity which results in more damage. The LS I feel is the most limited weapon in the game. Not taking into account the bowgun, the Switch-Axe is probably the most versatile (followed closely by the SnS) and the Lance is the most balanced. Newbies coming in may think that the GS is more limiting but it's quite effective if you know how to use it, same thing as the hammer. I find that the LS doesn't do any one thing right. It's just there for the hell of it. |

Sorry, guys. I totally passed out from exhaustion, which is weird, because I took the day off. I hereby promise to go hunting next time. @TranquiloI don't understand. Unless the TV has bad picture quality, SD shouldn't be a disadvantage at all, as far as the Wii is concerned. And a nice big size is even better! As far as the Switch Axe, isn't the Sword Mode actually undeflectable? It's a cool weapon, but very hard to get used to. And I think you can roll out of the Long Sword combos. Just not the final Spirit Combo. Supposedly, they made the LS less spammable in Portable 3rd. But the whole game is easier. Actually, a lot of MH players seem disappointed by it, even though it sold a bajillion and a half copies. |

I was playing in a bigger TV than the one I currently have. It's not the size, but the picture quality that bothers me. It's noticeably inferior and I'd rather enjoy the game with the picture being as crisp as possible. At any rate, I just had an epiphany and I'm officially retiring from MH. I realized I've spent too much time on that game and I've done practically all the quests. The only reason I would stick around is to try to improve some weapons but I'm not going to do that.
I have mixed feelings about MH. It's a good game, and there's a lot of variety. There's a lot of stuff I don't like about it, however. In my mind, doing a certain task should yield a specific reward. I think Dragon Quest IX is better in that regard. Even if you want to forge a specific weapon, often times you never have to fight a monster X amount of times, hoping to break its left wing for only a 17% chance of getting that specific item. The underwater fights are clunky. I often find myself disoriented and don't know which way is up or down or where the monster is.
I enjoyed MHtri, but I can't honestly say I enjoyed every minute of it like other games in my library. I don't think I'll play another one unless significant changes take place, and not just to the problems I mentioned above.

I think underwater was okay. The camera, in general, though, could use some tweaking.
As far as the drop thing, I agree completely. That's infuriating and frustrating. I think they should keep what they have now, but also have a trading path for gems, and such. A difficult path, but a path nonetheless.
I still like the overall design of the game, though. Even though it is obviously limited in some ways, that allowed Capcom to really breathe a lot of life into what's there, particularly the monster AI and varied strategies. The game can become grindy, but just playing until you ace every monster one time would provide you with a fun, lengthy challenge. The danger is to remember to play because you want to, rather than because you feel like you should. That's a problem with every loot game, but I feel the core gameplay of Tri is so solid and exciting that I'm still having fun with it, even if I am killing my 100th Rathian (well, maybe not the hundredth...).
Monster Hunter seems archaic in some ways, but I don't care, because it still feels quite unique and is a lot of fun. I wouldn't be opposed to a radical revamp that still retained what was good about the series, though. |
