Rhythm Heaven Fever (Nintendo Wii) Review (9.2)  by

Post your Endless Mode high scores here!

Amidst all the excitement about a certain Capcom 3DS title, a peculiar gem has snuck right up on us. That's right, it's a new game for the Wii, priced at a very attractive $29.99!

Fans of the DS title Rhythm Fever probably have a good idea of what to expect, and should also already be in the know of how fun this series is. To those who haven't experienced it, it's basically a madcap collection of songs, each presented in their own unique minigame. Created by the team that brought you the manic WarioWare series, each of these minigames are highly amusing and come packed with funny and/or cool surprises. You essentially use just two buttons, tapping or holding to the beat, in amusing, inventive ways. In addition, after every four songs or so, you'll encounter a remix stage where you gameplay styles shift rapidly between stages you've done as an original song plays.

The DS game was packed with quite a bit of content for a title like this, and the Wii version promises to be no different. It also supports a 2-player mode! So don't forget about this one, it's sure to be a fun time~

EDIT: Argh, I can never link videos right! Why can't it just be "video tag" (youtube URL) "/video tag"?

February 13th? Cool beans. Happy Valentine's Day, or something?

I'll be picking this bad boy up Day 1. Well, Day 2. Who needs love when you have Rhythm Heaven?

This will possibly be the final game I purchase for my Wii. I'm pretty hyped for it.

I will have this game and I will play it until I have finished playing it.

$30?!!!? Oh heck yeah. I expected $50 from Nintendo. $30 is the perfect sweet spot.

I'm super excited for this, easily one of my most anticipated games of the entire year.

I'm happy about the $30 price point. :) I hope it works as well with the Wiimote as it did with the stylus on DS.

There are no motion controls, only buttons, for maximum "binary" precision. So I don't think there'll be anything to worry about there.

Should work even better. Looking forward to it!

Great! :) (I hadn't heard much about the game yet)

I also just filled out the Intend to buy survey, for anyone else who hasn't done it yet:

The girlfriend might really like this one. It almost looks like what Wario Ware Smooth Moves should've been. Are there going to be a lot of different multiplayer modes? That would really be the clincher for me.

In the Iwata Asks I think they said something about wanting it to be more single player. There are some multiplayer modes, but I wouldn't expect too much there.

Agggh whyyyy. It just seems like such a wacky game like this would be so suited for drunken fun. Like survival modes where everyone's trying to do the rhythm but someone fucks up, and it snowballs into everyone screwing up and having a good time. Just seems like a no-brainer to me. Ah well.

@PogueSquadron

Yea when I read multiplayer wasn't a focus I was pretty disappointed. Maybe it will only have a couple of multiplayer modes, but they will be so fun that the game will be worth picking up for the more multiplayer inclined.

I looooove this series, so the lower price point is a cherry on the whipped cream. Actually, chocolate chips and walnuts. I don't like cherries.

What do you guys think this price point indicates? That Nintendo is going to tier their pricing to maximize sales and spread exposure of smaller franchises? That would be awesome. I feel so bad for stuff like Excitebots... (even though, now that I think about it, it DID launch at a lower price point!)

The intent of the developers is that the fun part is laughing at your friends when they fail, passing the remote around. That kind of multiplayer can still be really fun. The games are fast paced too.

@Anand It may just mean that they realize the Wii is basically dead and trying to sell what to a lot of people (fair or not) would be considered a mini-game collection at $50 at this point in the game could be a tough sell.

Yes, and it has a similar style to the rest of the series, not really taking advantage of the Wii remote or Wii console in any way, besides making it be on a big screen. It's a budget title through and through.
