HR 50. Tried my urgent yesterday and failed miserably.

@Tranquilo

Didn't you say you helped two people do theirs??
12/15/10, 03:34
@Mr_Mustache

Yes, but we had a gunner who sleep bombed it and helped paralyze it. We had none of that yesterday.

Welcome back. This game is still happening. Thousands of people online at all times, so much to obtain.

Anyone online?

I may be on tonight.

I'm quite enjoying using my heavy bowgun, but my armor is comparatively shit and will get me destroyed on the advanced quests. So for now I only use it when helping out on the lower levels.
It really sucks that you have to make separate armor. There should be a way around this.

@anon_mastermind

I've yet to understand that logic from the game designers... I mean... really?

I don't understand a lot of design decisions in this game (that's capcom for ya)... but why do I keep playing it?
12/15/10, 20:44
i think the ONLY big suckass design decision is the fucking Arena... what the heck! I work so hard for sets and skills why can't I use them in the Arena.
12/15/10, 20:59
@anon_mastermind
@Paleo_Orca

Thats not totally unnatural though. Every other RPG always had different armor for different classes of fighters. Stuff that a Knight wears can't be equipped by a Wizard, or an Archer usually, and vice versa. I find nothing wrong with it. Plus, you can hit from a distance so you more than likely won't be "in the fight" as much as the other guys, especially those with a sword and shield, haha! You gotta practically be UNDER the guy to get a hit in.

@Fabz

Thats not supposed to be the same type of deal though. Otherwise people would go in there superpowered and just roll everything. If thats what you're aiming for, do the lower level event quests in the Arena. Its intended to be more difficult, giving you a set of armor you HAVE to take. This hasn't been unseen in other games either. C'mon, guys!
12/15/10, 21:27
@Mr_Mustache
It's a poor excuse, because the gunner would be the only other class - everybody who swings a weapon gets the wear the same gear. I'm saying there should be a work around, like just lower the stats automatically when a gunner equips it. As it stands, it's stupid and the only reason it's in is to get people to grind for even more gear.

@anon_mastermind

Don't use a Bowgun then, dude! I see nothing wrong with it. If I'm going to be a Gunner myself someday (unlikely!), I know I'll have to get new equipment. Plus, you probably have a pretty good surplus of stuff, don't you? I've got a ton of garbage I don't use, and could probably make entire Bowgun sets with little ease.
12/15/10, 21:42
But i want to use the bowgun, just find it stupid to have craft unique armor for it. That's my complaint.

That's probably part of the reason why people don't often have a top of the line set of gunner and hand to hand stuff. It's just a hassle to be constantly switching armor, three-part weapons, ammo issues, etc.. I don't blame you for never wanting to be a gunner, it's just such a damn hassle. BUT I'm willing to put up with it because what I've tasted so far is very good. I'm still going to complain about it though - it's bad game design.

My main issue right now is cash, more than anything else.
12/15/10, 21:51
@anon_mastermind

Me, too! Lets get some money somewhere.. Do you ever sell your stuff? I had like, 95 Rathian Scales. I sold about 20 of those the other day and shot right up to my target worth. I'm pretty sure I don't need to use another 75 Rathian Scales at this point either..

EDIT- Oh, dude, go out alone. Can you handle Upper Rank stuff on your own? I did that Two Jaggi thing the other day; when you succeed at a quest (and I don't know if you know, or who knows, as it isn't spelled out explicitly), the purse is split by the participants. Its actually more beneficial for two people to go out than to string along a 3rd guy if money is your only target. Also, in that same aforementioned quest, I took home a Bird Wyvern Gem alone, but when I went with you I didn't get one at all. I have a feeling that impacts it, too. Perhaps Fabz or someone more experienced can expand on the intricacies of that for us?

But yeah, try that Two Jaggi deal. I think it paid "alright." I mean, just think: 12000 vs. 6000. Yuck, right?

I thought everyone got paid the same!

Bowgun armor is weaker, for balance purposes. There are other ways to do it, but...

Bowguns are pretty bad for the High-Level monsters, anyway. Unless you're putting things to sleep as part of a team. Good ammo takes a lot of resources. I'm going to make a badass sleep/para gun to take on Big D and Big A, though. That's why I keep killing Barioths.

But soloing High-Level guys with a Bowgun seems like a nightmare. I don't want to waste my resources!!

As a starter, for gunning get a Maxed out peco set+

Also suggest Agn, barioth, and especially uragaan+ (bombardier skill)

Once you complete sets it gets easier to switch between them as you can register sets at the armor shop
12/15/10, 23:33
@anandxxx

Everyone gets paid the same, but its a portion of the total purse. If it pays 15K, one guy would get that, or two guys would get 7.5K, or three guys would get 5K. I'm pretty sure thats how it works. Guy who starts the mission pays the fee all alone, haha. Dig it!
12/16/10, 00:04
If money is your objective, do later offline quests. With High rank weapons it take no time at all and gives better money. Plus you could let your farm and fishermen work getting you all the supplies you could ever need for bowgunning. Also the quest fee gets reimbursed if the mission is a success or ended via subquest.
12/16/10, 05:17
@Wilie345

Oddly enough, I don't think I knew about the reimbursement. Thanks!
