Welcome to the Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate thread! This will be our headquarters for coordinating our Hunts, sharing stories of war, and helpful hints for our brothers-in-arms, compatriots, friends, and neighbors. Please be mindful of folks' different definitions of "spoilers," and remember that not EVERYBODY played Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii, though everybody totally should've.


The "burden" of running this thread has been placed upon me but...I can't do it alone. I will lean on Maxi and others to help with the heavy lifting occasionally, both in planning things and also in feeding this thread. Please keep it bumped (once we get going). If you could, let us know if you're getting this game, WHEN you're getting this game, and what your aspirations are so we can get us situated in groups with likeminded people. Do you want to barely play this game? Is this going to be your new #1? The most fun with this game is had when you get to go out with a group of guys week in week out, so if we can find someone with a schedule similar to yours, you'll have the most fun with it.

Got my Bone Axe upgraded to a Bone Axe+ and all of the Hunter's equipment (and four decorations) forged in under an hour. Watch out Jaggi! I'm coming for you!

So yeah, Friday is my next big day. Not sure if I'll be on AT ALL before that. Possibly Thursday night if others are lookin' for it. Weekend is probably completely out.

So...I took on the event quest where I had to streak and kill 20 Bullfango (which I died once because I thought I'd go in and mash out a win easy...once I actually started playing with strategy, I rarely got hit and scored a bunch of Rhenoplos Scalps and Shells plus the twenty kills) and had a thought. Will my HR go up if I play the online quests offline?

Everything in "Tanzia" is linked (Online is "Tanzia," but you may've noticed "Tanzia Solo" as well). Your HR doesn't work as the last game; everything you're able to do *NOW* is "HR1" stuff. After you do the HR1 Urgent, you'll be HR2 and have a new set of stuff to do..until you do the HR2 Urgent, to go to HR3. Most of us are in HR3 now.

If guys get on with you on Saturday or Sunday (I can't this week), they can get you TO HR3, or pretty darn close.

Sometimes the fishing boats will say "We've made some upgrades and can travel somewhere new!" And their Boat Level will show 4 stars. But then, when they come back, it'll go back down to three! Is this a glitch, or do the boats get damaged or something if you send them to further locations?

Haha, its just a special one-time thing. There is nothing you can do about it, just like when they say "hey, we might be able to Hunt some Monsters today!" No worries! (And if you DON'T send them to those 4 Star places, I'm pretty sure you lose your turn, or something.)

Are you getting on with us in the near future, DW?

I played last night with some random peeps for two hours, and managed to knock off a couple quests. In all honesty, the one kid was HR 73, so the quests went very fast. It stunk because there was no fear or tension. But on the flip side, there was ample opportunity to get a lot of goods by farming monsters. I got some sweet dual blades, and some awesome ChickenFish Pants.

Side Note: I'm a little disappointed with these newer monsters, especially the more supernatural focused ones. A dog that howls a bunch and HAIIIDOOOOOOOKEN's you? That's pretty lame. And the ChickenFish has to be the most ridiculous looking monster. I miss Deviljho.

I did several offline two-star quests and some one-star onlines offline. Made an Arzuros Axe and am about to farm him for better armor, but my Hunter's stuff with Armor Sphere+ works fine for now.

Once you hit HR3 online.... I would greatly suggest getting some much stronger armor. The damage jump from the enemies caught me off gaurd the first couple times.

So, have you guys added me to your WiiU friend rosters yet? Cuz when I look at all of your names, it still says "Provisionally registered friend." I'd like you guys to add me, so we can hop into each other's games when opportunities allow!

And yeah, I was surprised by the huge jump between HR2 and HR3 as well. My recommendation is just to farm the Great Jaggi+ a couple of times, just so you can have some high rank arm that will allow you to survive.

I was thinking of farming Arzuros to get his armor set. He's easily beatable for me now, but I know I will need more Carpenterbugs to finish the complete set of armor. Can I breed those at my farm later? I've got the urgent 2-star available offline (I'm assuming it's the quest where I get ChaCha) and I may tackle that at lunch.

I'm pretty sure I have. Did you add us all through Miiverse (or did I add you through there)? My NNID is Ludist210, and my Mii is named Lewis.

I just added you all through the regular WiiU Friend Roster. Am I supposed to do it through Miiverse? That seems really confusing!

It's more convenient for the people you're trying to add to go through Miiverse since they get a friend request pop-up whenever they log onto their Friend List. The way you did it is the old way (where both people have to do the add). At least it's just names this time and not numbers...
