@FabzDude, haha; that whole night was such a weird misunderstanding.. If I recall correctly, and I think I do, you guys were playfully joking with each other, calling the other "noob" and stuff like that..and it was 5am EST, and you were both, by your own admission, "wasted." I don't know if you should pass judgment on someone based on one alcohol/drug-induced wee hour quest/hunt. --And we REALLY could've used you, too! Anand had just hit 31, and isn't quite up to speed armor/weaponwise yet. Maybe next time? @SmerdHey Smerd, Yeah, no problem with the updates. Mini-request: Can you rank the Monster Hunter names in order of HR, not so much a leaderboard or to say "hey, look how big my balls are," but to easily see who is around you so you know who you can quest with? I know that JKR is starting up soon and it'd be easy for him to go out with some guys near him, and not to be made feel like he isn't doing anything. I say that from experience, and firsthand accounts from several single-digit HR-folk just starting out. I could honestly see you, he, and MasterSandman II having a pretty good series out there. I think Zero is around there, too? Playing amonst those near your level really enhances teamwork, I think. Rather than letting so-and-so handle one guy and you do the other stuff, you guys really have to band together to get the job done. And I don't know about some of those names on there. I feel they might've been out once or twice but never again. I've got everyone added (I think..) and I never see 'em. Update, guys?? Lastly, I think Mikey is 26 or so. Confirm, brother! (And I just got home from a wild "Day Tripper" unlocked Beatles Rock Band binge at a friends house. So much back/foot pain..so much fun.) |

Congratulations, Chack! And Fabz!
We're all one big, happy Monster Hunting family!
I just had the worst match ever. My room was designated "Experienced Hunters Only" and I brought Cool Drinks instead of Hot Drinks. Apparently, so did the experienced random I was playing with. So we had to try to capture a Rathian in the cold with no protection. Also, once the match started, I went to the supply chest to grab supplies for both of us, but he didn't understand, so he kept running back. Anyway, we were doing pretty well, until my weapon became dull and I realized that I forgot to bring whetstones. I tried to keep using it, but it just got duller and duller and duller until it was absolutely useless. He blew all of his traps and I went on a quest to find Whetstones, occasionally touching base with him to lay a (failed) trap. After TWENTY minutes of searching, I found a whetstone, rejoined the fight with three minutes to go, whaled on the Rathian until he flew away, and then followed him to the next room where he luckily limped right into my last trap with about thirty seconds to go. We captured him with our last Tranqs.
A veritable comedy of errors! |

JKRHey I just asked this question (and others) actually on page 78. This is what Fabz had to say... Fabz said:sharpeness of a weapon defines it's attack. yellow neing low, then white, then blue, then pink.
as you play, you'll find weapons that have more "resistance" and don't get dull as often
for now use what you got. focus on the weapon's element and attack before anything else and learn every monster's elemental weakness and learn to change weapons before fights. you'll get back to sharpness and affinity later on when you're hr 31+ and will access better weapons. This game is very big... A lot of us don't know half this game - but what I got from Fabz's answer is that we shouldn't worry too much about weapon sharpness etc till our HR is better... This is what I got from a search as well: ClickyThe further to the right of the bar it is, the better. Red is the absolute worst.
In order of weakest to strongest, left to right: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, White, Purple. The longer the the color bar, the longer the weapon will maintain its sharpness at that color level before it degrades to the color below it. For example, if you've got a weapon with an inch of green sharpness and a weapon with half a centimeter of green sharpness, the 2nd weapon would degrade to yellow after maybe two or three combos, while the first weapon will stay at green sharpness for nearly the full battle.
Once your weapon degrades in sharpness, you'll get a message on your screen about it. Use a whetstone and you'll be back at full sharpness. Sharpness loss is not permanent. You can do a quest and go all the way to red sharpness, and after the quest, your weapon will be as good as new so don't ever worry about your weapon "breaking". S |
