Can we pick a date in the kinda near future where everyone is back playing 100%? I miss those days, it was really cool.

I'm back at Square 1. I'm not saying everyone else has to do that, but if someone would LIKE to join me there, please do. If someone is waiting to play that has the game but hasn't really started yet, come along! And for you guys way up there, help the Mike-man with his Urgent!

Sooo, whatdaya say? "Monster Hunter Tri: Negative World Re-Launch?"

While I know I cannot muster the energy to repeat the whole thing, I will be willing to remake the weaker weapons that would put me in the same position whenever we meet. It's not a true redo, but it seems like I could make it work. It will take a bit of work but should be easy to make everything if I bring my current weapons offline and start farming. Just tell me when we start so I can prepare.

Alatreon event is a pain in the ass. it's not that it's hard.. the bitch just will never die (we are against sleepbombing it). got a good team and did two of those... rewards galore that's for sure!

stache is your name and code still the same?
06/01/11, 10:54
@Fabz

Not sure if the code is the same, but yes, Mustache remains.

I haven't been back on since Anniversary Day
This is the problem with having too many irons in the fire. Nothing gets done.

I started/played Sid Meier's Pirates! for 6 hours Monday night to Tuesday morning.

I'm ashamed too.. .Right now my time is pretty much taken up as it is with work and trying to find a job (I'm only working 2 minimum wage jobs - but that doesn't pay the bills... *sigh* ) How I miss dedicated game time... I will get back to thee!!!1!

I'm going online tonight. Who wants to help me with the Alatreon? Or, who wants help with some quests? I'm down for anything, really.

@anon_mastermind

Sorry, Mikebomber..

I started playing again this week. I'm HR 113.

The more I play this game the more I convince myself that the game would improve if meeting certain circumstances resulted in a certain gain of a specific material rather than a slight possibility.

Making a game more accessible will not necessarily dumb it down. I know there is a psychological concept behind what Monster Hunter is doing, but I'm the type of person that won't maintain interest if I feel I'm being short-changed like I am with this game. And like I said before, making it so that breaking a horn only gives you a 7 percent probability of obtaining a certain item does not make the experience anymore challenging or amusing, just tedious.

It wouldn't be so bad if the game didn't revolve around that same mechanic, but it does. You need to hunt monsters to get materials to forge better weapons and armor to slay bigger monsters and so on. I guess I'm in the minority here, or maybe the majority since this is a fairly niche game outside Japan.

Anyway, I'm sure the things that discourage me from playing the game are things that encourage its audience. It's like Pokémon except not as popular. While I'm on the subject, why do people pronounce Pokémon without the emphasis on the "e". Why put an accent on the e if you're not going to respect it Nintendo? Why? That's always been a pet peeve of mine. Don't even get me started on the whole calling it soccer (in the US) while it should be Football debate.

I'll be on again tonight. Will help with anything
06/06/11, 06:31
@Tranquilo

I gotta agree with most of that. And if you're CARVING the monster, why wouldn't you really just cut off the part you want? If you shoot a deer in the woods that had a rack, you're going home with some antlers.

Unless, of course, its a race to the horns on a Lagiacrus or something. "Let him get the horns, he needs 'em." Centralized carving?
06/06/11, 12:02
@Mr_Mustache

That brings up an interesting point. That might actually be a better idea imo, no smoke and mirrors. Of course people aren't always willing to share so it could be a bit chaotic. I think giving each person three chances to carve whatever they want (if they were able to break of the horns, cut off the tail, etc).

Like I said before, I like MH. I think it's an interesting premise but I don't think it's game for me. I won't pick another one up unless a lot changes, which I don't think it will so this will probably be my first and last.

I think a good fix for Monster Hunter would be the ability to trade rare items for equivalent rare items. Sort of like that shop in town, but much more inclusive, so if I played for an hour or two, I could DAMN WELL get a Rathian Ruby somehow.
06/06/11, 20:03
@Tranquilo
@Anand

What about some sort of mini-game for super rare items? Like, you dig out a Rathian Ruby, and you have a chance to get it, but you only have so much time to do so? Or maybe if you're not steady enough or something, it'll break? I'm thinking Operation / something where you have to use the aiming reticle.
06/06/11, 21:15
While the free for all finish seems a bit chaotic and dangerous to the teamwork of the quest. While you are carving someone will just place a bomb and set it off so he could have the carve. Then you have a grudge. The trading seems like a good idea, like with the rare trades offline. They need need to be equal rarity and not two rarity 1 gets you a rarity two item. I'd be okay if I can't get something every time I should be able to tip the balance. Get rid of break rewards and have three carves like normal, but If you carve at the head or the claw you get a better chance at getting that and you have three chances at it. If you get it on the first you should be able to move the the next Ideal spot with the remaining carves. It would make hides and scales a bit rarer, but then crafting should need less.

Also ten man cities would be awesome instead of four. They have that in Japan but it got cut down for wii speak here in North American and European servers.

@Wilie345

Most of the times we do missions around here (at least how it used to be) would be that somebody would say "hey, I need a Rathian Ruby," and then we'd all go hunt a Rathian. Lots of teamwork on this site, I enjoyed it heftily.

Now, if you're just out with knuckleheads who don't do anything nice, yeah, thats up for grabs though..but that could kinda be like working with Pirates! You need their services, but they could screw you over in the end! That makes it more appealing for me, too. Seems more exciting! They could turn on you! Boooo, Pirates!

Wow, really, 10 guys in the city?? I really hope that Monster Hunter is seen again on Nintendo consoles.
06/06/11, 21:24
Really, I just want an infinite amount of Rathian Rubies. I don't care about anything else.

@Mr_Mustache
I have almost bought Operation 'for my nephews' about 12 times. I'm aching to play that game again, this time with motor skills.

@Wilie345
I like that carving idea. Not a limited amount of section carves, but a higher percentage chance.
