amiibo is certainly turning out to be a big thing in Nintendo's eyes. Whether or not the rewards for utilizing each amiibo is worthy to you, Nintendo plans to implement all sorts of bonuses. It appears right now that every amiibo is meant to do 'something' in each game though games not featuring certain characters may have more limited uses or lesser-valued ones. We've had plenty of threads on here for amiibo and I'm sure that will continue. Still, I wanted to establish a general discussion thread that doesn't have a specific focus or thought. That's what I meant by rumor. It's not confirmed but sounds like it could be likely to have a complete edition with DLC included.

Agreed. It's still financially challenging for me to play FFVII right now. I'm not even Nintendo-only but I have an Xbox One S, so I'm still outta luck.

I want to see Final Fantasy VII on Switch, in part because of the irony of it being on a cartridge system.

I ended up splurging on the 30th anniversary Zelda amiibos, got OoT Link, 8-bit Link, and Toon Link/Tetra. They're all super nice, highest quality sculpting and construction yet IMHO, wayyyyyyyyyy better than the Smash series. So happy to finally have some really good Links! (in human form at least)

@deathly_hallows My fiancé ordered all of those for me for Christmas! I can't wait to crack them open and have them with the rest of my meager collection.... The only Zelda Amiibo I will be missing now is sheik and that one is pricey nowadays...

Though I don't like Crystal Chronicles, or whatever the one was that had the GBA as controller.

Final Fantasy III is tops, Final Fantasy II was good (but no III), and I liked "The After Years" a lot. Final Fantasy on NES is of course super awesome. I still listen to Duane and Brand0 rap about it; great music in that game. (I think my love for Dragon Warrior -- especially IV -- attaches itself to Final Fantasy as well, perhaps skewing things a bit. But FFIII? RAD.)

FF3 is phenomenal. I might count as a Nintendo-only FF fan, but "fan" might be a stretch because I really haven't paid attention to the series post-IX (give or take a Theatrhythm). I'd probably put Dragon Quest above it as a whole.

So! I got a pretty great amiibo deal today at GameStop. They were doing a special where you could buy 2, get 3 free for used amiibo, or get TEN for $20. Initially I was thinking of the former, but as it turned out, it'd end up costing as much as the latter, and as luck would have it, they had plenty of amiibo I was interested in! I got...

(All are the Smash versions except Mario) I practically cleaned out their entire pre-owned amiibo section! I think the only ones left after I got done there were Celeste from Animal Crossing, Toad and another Fox. I hadn't planned on buying more amiibo but that price was too good to pass up. If you don't mind not having the amiibo boxes, check around.

Falling behind on Amiibo acquisitions

I still need to get all of the new Zelda ones. I think the Kirby ones stunk up the show. As always. Freakin' Kirby.

I don't love some of the BotW amiibos because they went back to having those ugly plastic supports to facilitate ugly poses that can't stand on their own. But, I freaking love the Zelda Amiibo. She's gorgeous. What an amazing character design. I'm sorry Tetra but this might be the best Zelda design ever, she's gonna look so good next to the OoT Link.

Right now I have 95 of the amiibo currently out in the US. I still don't have all of the first line of Super Mario amiibo (and Daisy), but those should be easy to get. The hard ones are going to be the rest of the Smash Bros. amiibo, the ones I'm missing are Bowser Jr., Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Ike, King DeDeDe, Meta Knight, Rosalina and Luma, Sheik, and Yoshi. Other than that, it's just the Alt Colors of the Splatoon 3-Pack and the Skylanders ones (though I don't really care about those). So I'm pretty close to a complete collection.

I'm up to 99 of these crazy things. Holy crap, that's a lot!

I have a few more coming in the mail and a friend that bought me one from a store he went to for a rhythm game tournament. That makes me very close to having a complete set.
