While trying to fill up the local Pokedex, I went looking for Honedge. The first one I've ever seen in the game ended up being shiny! Of coure I caught her (its a girl).

By the by, anyone have Y version willing to send a Spritzee my way? I haven't encountered one in a trainer battle so I can't request one from the GTS. I'm willing to trade other X exclusives or breed something you're looking for.

If you know the name of the Pokemon you can request it on the GTS still.

I tried that already. If you see the pokemon in the wild or owned by an npc, or if an npc mentions the pokemon in conversation, then itll be searchable in the GTS. (Try searching for any of the Regis, you cant). Sadly, I have yet to encounter Spritzee in any way shape or form.

No you don't. The Pokemon just has to be on the GTS which is why the Regi's won't work. Type in Spritzee and it will work.

ah, you are correct. since i stopped at "S" i didnt go down far enough to notice the option to type in a name. Now I just hope someone will find my trade amongst all the requests for legends.

Question - So, whenever Pokemon Bank comes out, how will transferring work?

In Pokemon Black, I believe I had to finish the main game before transferring from HeartGold. Will this be the case in X and Y as well, when transferring from Black and White?

I only ask because Amanda is currently playing HeartGold. It's making me want to play X or Y. What I'd love to do is transfer my Pokemon from my Pokemon Black game so that Amanda could start her own game there. Is this possible, or would I have to beat X first before doing the transfer? It'd be cool to be playing a Pokemon game at the same time.

I really do regret selling my old copy of Pokemon Diamond. Amanda is full throttle on HeartGold right now, but the jump to Pokemon X and Y actually turns her off. She likes when the look more like the older games. I would love to get X and then let her play through Black, but it would stink if she'd have to wait until I was done X.

Edit: From what I'm reading...I could just transfer my guys to Pokemon bank via Pokemon Black, right? So I wouldn't have to wait?

I believe it's just Pokemon storage. You put your Pokemon in the bank and take em out at any time.

Speaking of which I'm on a maddening quest at NWR to complete the pokedex. Let's see how it goes.

Think I'll be getting X today. I guess most people got X but I like the Pokemon better. Staryu? Houndoom? Absolutely. (Even though I already have them in other versions, haha)

I would think that Mega Charizard X' type change would be more beneficial than his Sp. Atk stat boost. Am I wrong? I feel like he'd have more use from taking Flying out of the equation.

I'm pretty happy I ended up with X instead of Y. I wasn't sure which one I wanted so I put both on my xmas list.

In the end the only exclusive in Y I really wanted was Yveltal. So I just traded my Xerneas for one.

And yeah I always thought being a flying type just added weakness to Charizard. Plus his X Mega Evolution looks cooler too.

In regards to exclusive Pokemon, aren't there enough Pokemon on the trading system that basically makes it a non-issue? I wonder if they'll ever go back to Ruby and Sapphire with having slightly different stories with the two different teams, just to make the versions more unique.

Trading for some version specific pokemon isn't an issue. But the mega evolutions are game specific I think. Although I think only Charizard and Mewtwo have version specific mega evolutions. You could technically trade for the opposite game's stone, but you would have to do it with someone you trust because there's no way to trade items. You'd just have to have a pokemon holding that item.

Is it common that if I close my 3DS, the game will kick me offline? I don't remember Mario Kart doing this. Any chance it might get patched?

Also, is there a way to have the game automatically sign me online when I turn the game on rather than having to connect?

I know with Animal Crossing the online turns off when you close the 3DS. I haven't played Mario Kart though so I don't know if it's game specific or if that's just how the system works.

And you do have to sign on yourself. I didn't even realize until after 40-50 hours and beating the game that you have to turn on street pass as well. Most games ask that up front, but Pokemon XY have kinda terrible menus and you have to go to the holo caster or whatever it's called to turn it on.

Is it normal to feel severely overpowered? I have guys at level 25 and up and haven't even gotten to the second gym yet!

Other than one rough patch in the middle where I was refusing to use pokemon just for their type I found this game to be pretty easy.

I'll have to just start running from wild Pokemon I guess. I think my lowest in my party is a Hippopotas and even he is at level 19. Some guy also wonder traded me a Roggenrola who was already at 22.

Then again, I suppose I'm still on track because the first badge lets Pokemon up to level 30 obey you. It's just that the Pokemon they make you battle are so under leveled. I figured it was because they're still teaching you things, but this game feels like it was designed for prior Poke fans, so that feels a little weird.
