Why not sign up for a (free) account?

@-JKR- Haha, I thought the same thing, but the little guy has grown on me. Have you seen Honedge yet? That thing is AWESOME! It's just a friggin' sword with a friggin' book.

And the Wonder Trading thing is basically blind trading, you can get some good stuff, or some bad stuff! But you can just keep trading in the Pokemon you get, it's a lotta fun to see what's gonna pop out next. A thousand times more interesting than the GTS!

You should either way have a move with 100 accuracy on every poke. And if you are using one of the fire blast variants then don't

I do have moves with 100 accuracy on every Pokemon, but they typically don't have the stopping power I need to actually KILL anything. If I had known a bunch of misses in a row were coming my way, though... I mean, I've LITERALLY never missed an attack online prior to this.

They could have used Pokemon Aime to raise evasion and crit levels.
11/28/13, 04:18
@Pokefreak911 I thought all Pokemon Amie bonuses were removed for both online play and stuff like the Battle Institute? Like my Noivern doesn't survive with 1HP randomly when online.

Speaking of which GOD this game has so many special rulesets, can't get Pokemon Amie bonuses in this mode, have to use this many Pokemon in this mode, these items are banned here, these Pokemon banned there, it's ridiculous! WHY CAN'T I USE ALL SIX OF MY POKEMON IN EVERYTHING?! I don't want to choose four! I have 400+ Pokemon and I already have to narrow it down to six!!

XBOB'S SWEEPING CHANGES TO THE POKEMON FORMULA (ALL CAPS VERSION):

1. ALL PP IS REDUCED DRAMATICALLY. MOST MOVES HAVE 5 PP TOPS, VERY POWERFUL MOVES HAVE AS FEW AS 2. NO WAY TO INCREASE THIS. PP IS FULLY RECOVERED AFTER ANY AND ALL BATTLES.

2. A SINGLE MOVE BEING SPAMMED REPEATEDLY BECOMES WEAKER AND WEAKER UNTIL AT LEAST TWO OTHER MOVES ARE USED, ONE EXCEPTION IS ITEMS THAT INCREASE POWER OF SUCCESSIVE MOVES.

3. ACCURACY IS NOW ONLY A FACTOR IF A POKEMON SPECIFICALLY INCREASES EVASIVENESS, OTHERWISE ALL MOVES ALWAYS HIT.

4. ALL POKEMON HAVE SUDDENLY BECOME MORE TOUGH AND LESS STRONG, THEY CAN TAKE MORE HITS AND DEAL LESS DAMAGE, TO PREVENT GAMEPLAY FROM BOILING DOWN TO 1-HIT KO SPEED-OFFS. 1-HIT KOs ARE WHAT YOU EXPECT FROM A TWITCH SHOOTER HEADSHOT, NOT THOUGHTFUL TURN-BASED GAMEPLAY.

5. IN EXCHANGE FOR BEING LESS POWERFUL PER ATTACK AND HAVING LESS PP, POKEMON CAN NOW LEARN UP TO 6 MOVES.

6. SINGLE PLAYER NOW TEACHES PLAYERS MORE COMPETITIVE TECHNIQUES, GETS MUCH MORE DIFFICULT AS YOU GET MORE BADGES, INTRODUCING NEW RULESETS OVER TIME IN GYMS, SUCH AS NO ITEMS IN BATTLE, AND FORCING MORE BATTLE TYPES SUCH AS DOUBLE, TRIPLE AND ROTATION. THERE ARE MANY TOOLS IN-GAME TO LEARN ABOUT HOW TO DEAL WITH MANY ADVANCED TECHNIQUES, NO LONGER VAGUE ALLUSIONS TO VERY TECHNICAL AND RIGID CONCEPTS.

7. EVS AND IVS ARE GONE. ALL POKEMON OF THE SAME TYPE START WITH THE SAME EXACT BASE STATES, AND YOU MAY CHOOSE WHICH STATS YOU WANT TO FOCUS ON RAISING AS THE POKEMON LEVELS.

8. GAME IS NOW AN MMORPG.

@Xbob42

Throw in the ability for a Pokemon to learn all of their moves and just select moves from that pool to fill up their four (or in your case, six) slots before going into battle (and be able to change them out in between battles), and I'm completely on board.

@V_s
That would complete destroy the current online setup. A good team should be prepared for any battle, regardless of match ups. It's why Pokemon with large movepools are widely sought after. Not only because they have access to a wide variety of moves but it makes it harder for the opponent to identify what set you are running from the multiplayer screen.
11/28/13, 08:41
@Pokefreak911 So in other words the game is unbalanced and favors Pokemon that are A. Super Fast and B. Have an unusually high amount of moves.

I petition that "Who gives a shit about the online setup" because as far as I can tell it's fundamentally broken and it only "works" if you're in neck-deep and playing exactly like everyone else.

Let's not forget, this is the "online setup" where in a turn-based game 90%+ of kills are made in a single hit. How does that follow the spirit of turn-based battle at all?! It's just completely and utterly broken from the bottom up and needs to be utterly revamped to make any sort of sense to people who don't live for this shit.

There's a difference between depth and needless obtuse complexity.

YOU people have had 15+ years to get your kicks out of Pokemon's current setup! Take a step back and let IT evolve!

@Xbob42
Oh I admit that battles are way too fast. Power Creep has been something the games have struggled with since Gen 4. But certain Pokemon being good and certain ones being bad due to the movepools is a good balancer. And some Pokemon with crap movepools can be super good as well and some with amazing movepools can be crap. Spinda is one that has a great movepool but...it's well Spinda.
11/28/13, 10:37
@Pokefreak911 Well take your argument against being able to select abilities before battle, for example... You say "Any team should be prepared for anything," but then go on to say "Big movepools are good because the enemy can't guess what you're doing as easily," wouldn't being able to select your moves prior to battle makes battles far more interesting? I mean, you can already do that, it just takes FOREVER to make them forget and then learn moves.
11/28/13, 10:57
@Xbob42
Your point makes no sense. It shows a players ability to have a team with a diverse amount of moves and types to be able to combat any situation they encounter. You need to make you team not only hard to counter buy easy to fight back things that you are weak to. That is something you are taught in Pokemon campaigns, no online experience necessary.
11/28/13, 12:37
I am going to have agree with Pokefreak911 on this. Diversity of types is one of the cornerstones in building a team in pokemon. Not just having different types but making sure that those pokemon are not weak to one or two moves that will kill your whole team. XBob what is the team you are currently using and its moves on all the pokemon?
Also fast pokemon tend to have low defense. The final evolution of the water starter this generation while being the fastest and has a great hidden ability it can be beaten by a Priority attack or a defensive pokemon that strikes back after brushing off the hit.
