Trine 2: Director's Cut (Nintendo Wii U eShop) Review (8.7)  by

So, did anyone else buy this game? The $20 price tag may seem steep for a downloadable title, but it seems pretty sweet so far. It's beautiful and is a very nice blend of 2D platforming / puzzles with a bit of combat thrown in the mix.

Also it is up to 3 player online co-op. Let's play together!!!

Why not sign up for a (free) account?

I bought it on the PSN a few months back. I rather enjoyed it. You guys should give it a shot.

I definitely plan on downloading the game as soon as I get my Wii U. Should have had the damn system on launch day, but someone had to buy me the damn system as a xmas gift...which I'm not happy about at all. Still pissed off about it. I'll probably die and never get to play any of the fucking games.

I wonder how much is new from the 360/PS3 version. I got it when it was one of the PS+ free games and I thought it was pretty good.

Got it as a free PS+ game and haven't touched it yet. Too... Many... Games...

I dunno, I tried the demo and PS3 and didn't really have that much fun. It was gorgeous--unbelievably so. But the platforming was nothing great, the enemies weren't fun, the controls were floaty, but the puzzles seemed good. Maybe the demo was just the weakest part, but it wasn't much fun to me.

I beat the game on PC. It's pretty good, not great though. Gets old sometimes. But it's overall alright

@Cubed777 I think it is mostly about the puzzles though, the platforming / action are just there as a means to that? I dunno, I'm not super far yet, only played through 2 or 3 areas.

No one bought this on Wii U and wants to play some co-op?!

I got it on PSN and played some co-op a bit. If it's anything like that version, it's bad. Not because it doesn't work but whatever progress the one that joins the game makes is completely lost once they leave the game. Only the host will get to save whatever they've done.

@VofEscaflowne Oh I'm not worried about progress, I just want to screw around a bit.

For some reason I'm not a big fan of the gameplay of Trine games. Looks real nice though.

@Zero

Downloading it tonight.

I will be getting this on Christmas Day.

Feel like asking this on Miiverse but does it support Gamepad?? How's it compared to PS360 versions?

Always been interested in this title as well.

And did Cloudberry Kingdom release? And what of the rumored demos??

I played through the first game and got about halfway through the (beautiful) second one on PC before getting tired of the gameplay.

I will go back to it some day!

So I've never played Trine (everytime I hear the name I keep thinking of the Materia Keeper in FFVII). But from the description it seems to be a puzzler in the vein of The Lost Vikings? Would this be accurate?

Pretty much except only one character is present at any one time. You aren't for instance placing the guy with the shield in front so the others can pass. That's with Single Player anyway, I haven't played multiplayer.

@Guillaume Then let's do it! I mean, I'm not sure I want to play the whole game co-op or anything but it would be fun to try out.

@carlosrox If you mean can you play it on the Gamepad, yeah, you can. No idea how it compares to the other versions.

Anyone know if there's voice chat for online?
11/23/12, 04:13
I played online and I didn't notice any voice chat, but I didn't really check around either. I'd be kind of surprised if there was, to be honest.

@warerare

The multiplayer can have all three characters at once.

I got this from PS+ and didn't care for it, but the platinum was really really easy so I played about half of the game.
