I like Splatoon but I haven't been a mega fan of it. I didn't even buy 3.

But damn this game has me hooked. I have 35+ hours in it already. I've seen the credits of course, but that is only the beginning. I've beaten all of the hiddens, spicys and |super spicys. All that is really left is the freaking 100 stage post credit dungeon. Except actually that isn't all because there is supposedly a neverending dungeon too, though that just sounds like torture to me.

Am I the only one that merely likes this game? It's fun enough, it has a good idea (single-player focused Salmon Run), co-op is solid, but to me it feels pretty...I dunno, "fast food"? Like in a year, when trying to remember specific levels or something, I get the feeling that I'm going to draw a blank; I can't remember most of the game already! There's some pretty mild platforming interspersed with mob fights atop a somewhat-addictive progression system. Add to that the samey, kind of dreary environments and muted soundtrack and it's just not blowing me away.

Oh well, still pretty fun. I'm just a little surprised at the reception is all.

@TriforceBun

To me this is just Vampire Survivors in 3D. Which is to say, I'm not surprised by the reception at all. Not my thing either though.

I was thinking it is a more advanced Robotron. And I loved Robotron 64. I was also thinking it is a bit Resident Evil 4. These games where you just have to keep moving and shooting while the mobs come in.

I'm sure Vampire Survivors is a better, more modern example, but I've never actually played that...

It certainly isn't a typical Nintendo type game with memorable worlds. As TB says the environments and such are kind of bland, sort of just there. Platforming is minimal and mostly irrelevant. No real exploration and the 'secrets' are all obvious. I can't even really argue against any points being made I'm just enjoying the grind. Once you get to the higher levels of the Bottomless Buffet it gets very, very tough. And very precise. You can't really grind player levels anymore at that point so every new little tweak to a weapon or item is huge.

See, I wish this was unlocked from the start! I've been tempted to try Side Order as an alternative.
