Super Mario Odyssey Review (Nintendo Switch) (9.7)  by

A new entry in the Super Mario series is upon is! We are just days away now from the glorious Super Mario Odyssey! Run, jump, and explore your way through plenty of 'Kingdoms' setup similarly to the great Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine! This is the Mario game everyone has been waiting for!

Check out Nintendo's now-famous Super Mario Odyssey 1:30~ long commercial!

And check out some of the glorious screens as well! Soon you'll be able to use the special mode found inside the game to pause the action at anytime for a photo, but you can also change the angle in anyway way also. Quite a neat feature.

To add on to what @r_hjort said, if you stand still for a couple of seconds, the arrow will reappear until you move again. This eats up time of course, but can help you find a farther away balloon that's hidden by a spot with a lot of nooks and crannies.

Also of note, a finder gets one-third more time as the hider got to hide the balloon, so even if their movements were perfect when they hid the balloon, the finder can make a mistake here or there and still get to it. For example, if it took the hider 15 seconds to hide the balloon, the finder will get 20 seconds to search for it.

In both modes, every three coins you collect gives you one more second, so it helps to know where any nearby stashes of coins may be.

@Zero
Also, picking up coins can extend your timer when looking for balloons. It is good fun actually, and a really good fit for the game. Just sucks about the asshats that have gone and placed some balloons out of bounds or clipped through solid objects.

EDIT: Beaten to it.

EDIT 2: Oh, the coin thing is for both modes? I stand corrected! For some reason I hadn't understood that.

Yeah, I don't think Luigi fully explains everything, so I had to figure out some of it through observation.

If you see a low time that seems impossible to reach within the time given, the hider probably collected a buncha coins. I've seen this in Wooded Kingdom as there are a couple of spots near the start with a cache of coins.

So, there are rumours (with pictures, but I won't post them in case they turn out to be spoilers) saying dataminers have found twenty new pieces of moon hint art in the game. Perhaps there's an update with more content on its way. Perhaps not.

For those that don't want to click the link, the twenty artworks appeared after the latest update, and are all marked with the kanji for 'temporary'.

I’m waiting for them to add more moons. 880 is a weird number

When I first saw the knight costume, this is the first thing which came to mind (boss spoilers): https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DXLK_nmV4AA0uYr.jpg:large

Here is a photo I took with the neon filter:

@Mop it up
Neon filter is the GOAT. Yummy pic.

Did you hide a Balloon in the Cap Kingdom? I think I may have just done yours!

@r_hjort
I'm gonna do your Balloon!

Try mine!
It's in the Cap Kingdom 000 X9K C87.

@carlosrox
Will do! I need some lighthearted colourful fun after playing hours of Outlast.

EDIT: What does it mean that your balloon gets 'popped'? Does that mean they're unavailable now? If so you might not be able to do mine right now.

EDIT 2: Ah, no, it only means that they've been found and popped. Which should have been obvious to me, but I thought my balloon codes had disappeared. They hadn't. I'm being stupid here.

Anyhow, found your balloon!

@r_hjort
Not sure! I did it though. It gave me a notification when you did mine.

Why don't you have Discord? Just realized you're not on it?

@carlosrox
Never felt like I had a reason to have it to be honest. Probably wouldn't use it much.
03/04/18, 00:21
@r_hjort
We could play eachother's balloons + other games much easier ;)
03/04/18, 00:26
From what I can tell, after the first time one of your own balloons is popped, it will remain up for play but you will no longer receive coins when someone tries it. So you'll have to hide a new one if you want more coins from it. Because of this, whenever I go for a friend's balloon I hit the "retry" button at least once, to give them some more coins before popping it.

I have hidden one in every kingdom, so be on the lookout!

@carlosrox
I suppose...

@Mop it up
Really? You're probably right about that, but that would mean that people have had a harder time finding my balloons than I feel they should have, 'cause I got like 400-something coins from my three or four balloons when I logged in yesterday, and that doesn't include the rewards for ranking up. But hey, I'm not complaining!

That was me placing that Bloon you did!

@r_hjort I'm not sure how many coins you get from each try on your balloon, so I don't know how many tries that would equal. I'm also pretty sure you still get some coins from the try where the player pops your balloon, but again not sure how many. Some of the Hide It stuff is still a mystery to me.

@carlosrox You indeed found my balloon in Cap and Cascade Kingdoms, nice job. I popped yours as well.

Ha ha, that first video gave me some flashbacks to the Koopa races. I'd slam into some of the most random and smallest of objects during a roll...

I found this video which shows seven common glitch hiding spots, if anyone here wants to know how to reach them or avoid them.
03/04/18, 21:47
@Mop it up
I'll check this out in a second. I think I found a glitched one in Fossil Falls. It seems to be pointing to a pit. I tried it 3 times and couldn't figure it out.

@r_hjort I did soooooo bad getting yours lol

@Mop it up I recorded it cuz it went well!

@carlosrox Nice job mate.

I haven't tried to make mine difficult as I still need a lot of coins from Hide It to reach max rank, so I was hoping more people would go for mine. Here are my current codes if anyone would like to try mine:

@carlosrox
Hey, I've seen way sloppier. Performed by yours truly.
03/08/18, 21:44
I learned a tip that if you're having trouble locating a balloon, you can use the snapshot mode to look around without using any time.
