amiibo is certainly turning out to be a big thing in Nintendo's eyes. Whether or not the rewards for utilizing each amiibo is worthy to you, Nintendo plans to implement all sorts of bonuses. It appears right now that every amiibo is meant to do 'something' in each game though games not featuring certain characters may have more limited uses or lesser-valued ones. We've had plenty of threads on here for amiibo and I'm sure that will continue. Still, I wanted to establish a general discussion thread that doesn't have a specific focus or thought. They're making their money. It's the "saddening their fans" part that is 100% true. I just want one of each to complete the set, that's all. I missed Jigglypuff, Ness (by minutes apparently) and Greninja. The Pokémon aren't a big deal to me, but Ness is.

Pac-Man currently available for preorder at Toys R' Us! Won't last long, so if you want him, go get him. Pakku pakku pakku pakku...

I just went to Toysrus and they were told this morning not to sell any in store because they all sold online. I can't believe they didn't separate the stock levels to give more folks a chance.

What an operation they're running here... oi.

Greninja still eludes.

I feel pretty ripped off. GameStop secures Ness as their only amiibo. Great. But then they post the exact time that you can preorder him online, so...okay, good! Hundreds (thousands?) of people thus try to preorder online at the promised time, the site blows up for 3 hours and nothing works for anyone. GameStop later says "we're just doing them in-store now."

Great. So where does this leave all the online-preorder people? SOL, that's where. While we were trying to get the amiibo at the promised time, we were losing our chance to get them in store because GameStop arbitrarily shut down one of the venues to get it. Now the site has none AND the stores have none. And nobody's going to get in trouble for this or anything. They just said "oops, oh well" and continue on, having screwed over a ton of people in the process.

This is yet another reason why I never go to GameStop. Couldn't any other amiibo that wasn't Ness be exclusive there!?

EDIT: This article sheds some light on the situation. Really shady business practices. Ugh, I hate this place.

Guess my only other option is trading away my Golden Mario amiibo for Ness sometime in the future, because no way am I paying off some jerkwad scalper.

How does Skylanders and Disney Infinity do this?

This is true lunacy. Nintendo needs to answer for all this. I'm afraid of when those cool crocheted Yoshi amiibo release. I want one but it's going to be super coveted. They better be making them NOW for a Fall release. Why wouldn't they?

I haven't had a chance to try and do any pre-ordering yet. For the late May release I'm only after Pac-Man and Ness. The Splatoon ones, while cool looking don't hold much interest for me. For July I'd really like Dark Pit and Palutena if possible. September on the other hand, I hope to knab all 5 of them: Ganondorf, Zer Suit Samus, Olimar, Dr. Mario and Bowser Jr.

Then with the Yarn Yoshi's due out later, I'm gonna need to grab one of those. If they're all just colour swaps I'm not too picky as to which one I'd go with.

And none of this solves the problem of me still trying, not too hard though, to find a Meta Knight, Little Mac and possibly a Gold Mario.

Not that anyone can do anything, but I'm looking for Greninja. Maybe I can trade my Ike or Wii Fit Trainer for one someday.

Has there been any announcement on when/if Gold Mario will be available in stores in Canada. I missed the Walmart Canada online by an hour or 2.

Saw something somewhere that Europe is getting a version of Yoshi's Woolly World with the yarn Yoshi as a pack-in. Hope that happens here too, though I do wonder to what lengths scalpers will go to get that suh-weet amiibo. I'm super glad that I no longer stress out over trying to get my hands on these things, but I will continue to buy them off the shelf, like a normal person.

Went to EBgames yesterday and I was able to pre-order Ness and Pac-Man. So that takes care of the 2 that I want from this wave.

Getting a Yoshi pack-in would be a great thing!

Apparently EB Games was taking preorders all Friday (the ones that were open during the holiday) and all day Saturday.
I have a feeling they made a mistake and many, many preorders will be canceled.

We'll find out after the Easter long weekend.
