Why not sign up for a (free) account?

@NinSage I got one, the spawn rate for tailow is just stupidly low though on hordes.

@pokepal148 I remember that taking me forever. I also think I didn't use Sweet Scent as I forgot to look through the PC Box by moves. Whoops.

My team is all out of whack right now. I know it has major weaknesses but I just don't know what to do. I've been using

Greninja
Goodra (already seeing my massive fairy weakness)
Mega Gardevoir
Scolipede (my only fairy counter)

And I've been trying to mix in
Altaria (also weak against fairy, double against ice, kind of redundant with Goodra)
Krookodile (like him but his earthquake is only good when paired with my flying types, or Goodra can maybe take it, maybe Gardevoir with Reflect)
Starmie (great special sweeper but super fragile)
Skarmory (not really well trained but a pretty bulky Pokemon. Haven't really figured out how to use properly)
Primeape (awesome but super fragile. Close Combat means he can't really take a hit at all)

Other "good" Pokemon I have laying around:
Umbreon
Dugtrio
Aggron (not Mega, also his attack stinks due to his nature)
Haxorus (bad speed, good attack)
Mantine, maybe?
Pyroar, meh (liked her in game though)
Tyrantrum
Emboar
Volcarona (think it looks cool at least)
Garchomp (I think its stats might be meh)
Gigalith

Just feeling kind of lost with them. Any ideas on a new direction to take?

I'm something like 8 and 30 in double battle online. I don't think that's that bad, considering I think a ton of people are super cheap.

@PogueSquadron if that greninja doesn't have it's hidden ability get one that does.

Goodra: Works nicely with an assault vest.

Gardevoir: idk, I haven't had much experience with it,

Scolipede: Scizor is better at countering fairies.

Get a gliscor with poison heal (and a toxic orb), those are always fun to have,

Yeah right now I have Leftovers on Goodra. Maybe it would be better served on Skarmory. Getting these items is a huge pain in the ass. I'm so sick of going through the Battle Maison. I always lose at battle 20.

I like Scolipede :(.

Greninja doesn't have Protean. I've been trying to avoid doing any new breeding, haha. I have Mat Block on him which is amazing, and sometimes use it to help Gardevoir use Calm Mind (or lately I've been putting Reflect or Light Screen on her). Honestly sometimes she seems great but other times not so much.

I feel like my team doesn't have much defense. I can never really switch in and out very well. I was wondering if I should try something like a Steelix. I've always liked it but never used one.

A defensive gliscor set with poison heal and a toxic orb (which basically gives you leftovers on steroids) would be great for that.

Also a protean greninja can seriously break the battle maison.

Well, I have two Immunity Gligars. One is a neutral nature and the other is bold. I don't have a ditto with a good nature to breed with the female. What do I do?? Catching this thing is a huge pain in the ass. Do I keep trying to get a good natured Gligar or do I try getting a better nature Ditto? What a pain.

Also no Froakies or Frogadiers in my Friend Safari :(
06/16/14, 05:59
Protean makes your Mon the type that you were last attacked by, yes? That basically just gives you super defense, yea?
06/16/14, 06:06
I believe it's different than another ability in that it changes your type to the type of move you just used. So if he uses Mat Block, his type becomes normal.
06/16/14, 07:24
Right, that's it, the move you just used? Yea, definitely a powerful ability. So you just wanna hunt for a Froakie w/ Protean? Could you breed one?
06/16/14, 08:21
I think the one that changes type upon being hit is Color Change. I think Kecleon is the only one with it? I could be wrong. I wonder if a Protean Greninja and a Color Change Kecleon would work, haha.

Protean is a hidden ability and can not be bred like normal abilities. I'd have to find a Protean Frogadier or Froakie (I think) in the Friend Safari, and then breed that to pass the hidden ability down to another Greninja. It's the same reason I've been having such a hard time getting Poison Heal Gliscor. He's only available in a horde, so I have to keep using Sweet Scent to find him, and then Toxic every Gligar until I find the one I'm looking for. So annoying!
06/16/14, 18:26
so because Lapras is able to be bred with charmander (somehow) I guess that l'm going to get to focus on him next. annoyingly though with Lapras running ice shard as a priority move I have to actually get it full perfect I.V.'s (whereas I was able to settle for 5 iv's on tyranitar and charizard.)

Oh and the E.V. spread I'm looking at for whenever I actually manage to get a perfect Lapras looks something like this:

68 SDef / 204 HP / 60 Def / 4 Atk / 172 SAtk
(EV spread and moveset came from here.

This is going to be really painful and annoying to pull off.

@PogueSquadron I believe I used poison gas to get my immunity gligar.

I eventually did get my immunity Gligar. His nature and all that probably wasn't ideal but it was better than nothing. I've since put Pokemon in the box though. I kind of just hit a point of diminishing returns with it. Too many other games to play.

So I booted this up today...my first Pokemon game in over a decade. Huzzah!
09/10/14, 16:28
@ludist210

Huzzah indeed! Congrats! Are you looking to get Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire?

I'm going to start putting some time into X again soon. I'm not sure why, but when the cooler weather starts to sweep in, I get in the mood to play some Pokémon. (or just about any handheld RPG)
09/15/14, 17:33
@GameDadGrant

Probably not...I got X for free when the promotion was going on in March. I'm enjoying it though (got my first badge, just picked up a Charmander).
09/15/14, 18:03
So something still bothers me...almost all of the Pokémon (except for Pikachu, to this point) still sound like they're from the Game Boy game. It's 2014 (well, the game was made last year) and the franchise is worth a crapton of money. Can't we get all of the anime voices in the game?
09/16/14, 16:35
@ludist210
I would much prefer the game noises. Never liked the anime noises, they sound tacky.
09/16/14, 16:54
@Pokefreak911

Old Game Boy sounds from 1996 aren't much better. Butterfree and Charmeleon sound exactly the same as they did when I was playing this game in high school.
09/16/14, 16:56
@ludist210

Nostalgia, dood! Some of the 'mons I don't mind having the Gameboy sounds. Parasect needs to make that bizarre rippling/chirping noise. Wouldn't "feel" right otherwise.

Also, those are what the monsters are supposed to sound like...the anime is different.

.... I dunno actually. Just guessing. Nintendo (and/or Game Freak) is lazy.
