The game doesn't release at retail till early October, but gamers can begin playing this title soon if they buy a special edition Wii U next week. That said, Welcome to the official discussion thread for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD! Whether you're someone who played and beat this game back in 2003, or maybe you're new and eager to get your Link wet, come here to discuss the game!
IGN.com just released their review and I believe that makes it the first review score for the title. What did they give it? You might not be surprised, but you can look at their review here. For the lazy,... 9.8/10
I have fond memories of picking the original game up from my non-standard Gamestop the night before release. They opened the doors at 10pm and let us get the game early just as the box literally arrived. I don't understand why things went down like that but I was always proud that I was nerdy enough to have been the first person to leave that Gamestop with Zelda that night. Now, I have it pre-ordered at another Gamestop, my normal one, because I want that badass statue offer. As Carlosrox continues to point out, the game looks beautiful and now that I've had an awesome Samsung HDTV for a little less than a year now, I am excited to finally embrace HD with Zelda and see how beautiful this game is at 40 inches and 1080p.
Just picked up my limited edition copy. The Ganondorf figure is pretty cool although it doesn't seem to snap on the base very well. I can't wait to finally get to play the one console Zelda that I've never got a chance to play. I still haven't finished Skyward Sword, but I've never even played Wind Waker.
I have to admit that this does look super awesome, but I'm still finding it hard to justify the $50 on what is essentially a game I've already played. I'm hoping that its bundled nature will somehow drive the price of the actual game over time, because I think I'd definitely pull the trigger on this at $20. Wind Waker has never been my favorite Zelda game but some of the improvements in WWHD seem to alleviate some of my concerns (though definitely not all of them). Keep the pictures coming! I'm loving them.
Would anyone else want to see Nintendo do a similar port of Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword? Perhaps they could put Grezzo on the task, as they seem to be the ones Nintendo has tasked with porting some games to 3DS. I wonder if they have the chops to do that on the console front.
My Ganon figure is pretty crappy. Dried up glue on the arms, a tiny spot of missing or chipped paint, and one of the holes in his hands was filled up and I had to carve it out to insert the tassel. Really not worth the extra $20.
I think mine was worth the extra $10. I like how it looks and I got it set up so the stand isn't a problem. As for the game, wow. This is absolutely beautiful. Seeing the trailers and pictures I knew it would be, but I'm completely blown away. If Wii U games are going to look this good, I'm more than satisfied with it. Interesting first dungeon. Almost felt more like Metal Gear than Zelda.
Hero Mode isn't too bad so far. I guess it would be worse if there wasn't any warp points but beating the first boss, I died once but also captured a fairy just before it so that helped on my second try.
I did take it. It was during the intro cutscene for the boss and you can turn off the button overlay (check options) so only the hearts and Rupees remain on the screen. Very clean look then! As for taking those images, just go to minus.com on your Wii U browser, log in with your Twitter account (or Facebook if you prefer), then you can upload whatever's on your screen at a higher resolution. Not all games seem to support it cause Art Academy doesn't let you do that for some reason.
It doesn't force you to get the app. You can just sign in with either Twitter or Facebook. Or of course just create a separate account... or I believe you can anyway. I just linked mine to Twitter.
Now how does the rest work? Both on my Mac and my Wii U, when I link with Twitter I am redirected to a page saying Minus will be back shortly. Then when I go to Minus.com I have to sign back in. Ugh... Should I just try uploading something then?
Tech problems maybe? I didn't have any issue after I linked it to Twitter. You can always try other image hosting websites or anywhere you can upload images directly but of the two I've tried (Twitter and Photobucket), neither had the resolution or the quality that minus.com does.
EDIT: Ah okay well there you go I guess you can't keep albums as a guest though.
