Symphony of the Night is the second Castlevania game to borrow the Metroid progression formula, but the first to do so successfully, creating the love-it-or-hate it term "Metroidvania". Starring Alucard (don't read his name backwards), SOTN is generally considered one of the best games in the series, and its soundtrack is often considered one of the best of that era, period.
