This Director's Cut is largely identical to the original Resident Evil, but it also features an arranged mode which switches around item and enemy placements around the mansion, as well as an additional Beginner-level difficulty. A bonus disc is included, which contains a demo for the then-upcoming Resident Evil 2, where players play as Leon.
One advertised feature for the Director's Cut was the addition of uncensored cutscenes in the North American and European editions, yet the Director's Cut as released still contained the censored versions; due allegedly to a localization error by the developers.
