Action RPG developed by From Software. Originally published by Sony and released in early 2009 in Japan, this became a popular import for English-speaking gamers in part due to the game featuring an English-language option. The wide amount of import purchasers eventually led to a local North American release by Atlus late in 2009, followed by a PAL release by Namco-Bandai in 2010.
Demon's Souls became notorious for its high level of difficulty, and sold quite well for a niche title. The success it received led to a spiritual successor called Dark Souls (as From Software didn't have the rights to reuse the name Demon's Souls).
