Fourth main entry in the Fallout RPG series, taking place chronologically after Fallout 3 though not a direct sequel to it; Fallout: New Vegas was developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Bethesda in 2010. New Vegas received praise for its writing and variable approaches to completing the main story, but was criticized for its bugginess, particularly at launch. Notable for being worked on by various key people formerly of Black Isle Studios, who created the first two Fallout games in the 1990s. New Vegas reused some key story ideas that were originally planned for Van Buren (codename for then-in development Fallout 3), before the series was sold to Bethesda and Bethesda began work on their own version of Fallout 3.
