Symphony of the Night is the first Castlevania game to borrow the Metroid progression formula, creating the love-it-or-hate it term "Metroidvania". Starring Alucard (don't read his name backwards), SOTN is generally considered one of the best games in the series, and its soundtrack is often considered one of the best of that era, period.
