Tis the nature of the beast but rumors are that in the coming week we'll see a Nintendo Direct. Long-awaited we haven't had a proper Direct for a LONG time now; certainly longer than we're used to. Due to my schedule and the uncertainty of things, I'm possibly getting this game prepared and published too dang close to the event, but we'll see who can participate anyway. The Nintendo Switch 2 has been out for a full year now and a lot of franchises have shown up, but there is yet so much potential still on the horizon. I hope everyone is as excited as I am!
This Predict-a-ton is live from now until 4 AM ET on the day the next Nintendo Direct occurs. We are looking for a main-line Direct here so if an Indie Direct or a Partner Showcase come up instead, we'll keep this live for a while after in hopes a full Direct appears. That said, please get your votes in ASAP as anything announced prior would see itself locked out for future voters. For example if the release date for the new Fire Emblem was announced outside of a direct ahead of some future presentation.
This Predict-a-ton is a mix of the old style and the newer changes I made for the Nintendo Switch 2 launch Direct. So pay attention to the details and give it your best shot. Let’s-a-go!
How To Play:
========================First we have a few special questions to start the game. We'll wager presentation length again and whether a Treehouse joins the fray... but determining how the Direct begins will be an optional inquiry.
From there, we’ll see our usual style of questioning. You’ll see four sets of statements. Pick all of them you think will come TRUE. (choose as many as you like eg. A3, A6, B5, C9, D10…)
Make your choices in a prudent manner! Each category is more valuable but also becomes increasingly risky. A correct pick means you WIN those points. An incorrect pick means you LOSE those points. This means you might even end up with a negative score, but you may just succeed with the highest total instead! Winner is the person who obtains the highest score, even if that’s in the negatives!
The last section is similar to that in the past, where you’ll have the options to pick what ‘franchises’ may show up. However this time there are a lot more franchises and the wagers are less punishing to encourage more speculation. With a clean slate of a new console, every Nintendo franchise is truly open to appear and this is a facet we celebrate in this Predict-a-ton! I may be missing a franchise you love in the list, but we'll cap it off with this selection for the purposes of this game.
It proves to vote early though as any statements that are officially confirmed ahead of the presentation will be locked and no-longer viable for new pickers. The main presentation is the primary place for the answers to be known, but if Nintendo confirms anything else through any other means ahead of time, then that also will count for the purposes of scoring but only for those who voted prior to that announcement.
