What's the best game that has the F-word? [roundtable]

Ahhh, the F-word. Truly a word with a lot of spice, almost too much for some people (like me). Although maybe not as much as it once had. Is it really still "the worst word that you can say" (South Park, 1999)? I mean, I see it way more often online than the other F-word, for instance. Who even knows anymore?

What I do know is that I want to know what you know is the best game that HAS THE F-WORD IN IT. It must contain the F-word spoken or read in its purest, nonbleeped form (sorry, Conker fans). We all love Chrono Trigger and Metroid Prime and Super Mario World, but there isn't a single F-word in those three games combined (and they had plenty of opportunity for it, let me tell you).

FUN F-WORD FACT: The only NW Top Game in ANY of our Top Ten lists (across all Nintendo systems) that contains the F-Word is...Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward! What do you think of this big effin' winner? A worthy game or is there another contender worth a ffffrick? EDIT: Correction, Bayonetta 2 also appears on the Wii U list!

So here's my challenging question to you all: what is the best game that has the F-word?

Fun one!

What's great about having obsessively organized my game database rankings is that I can answer questions like this trivially now. Looks like I've got three 8.5s that quality:

MGSV - Apparently Kaz drops an f-bomb at one point.

Catherine - Scandalous! What a game.

Hotline Miami - Hyperviolence and hyperprofanity.

But oh, I did skip over the Zero Escape games. Yes, those too!

Do any Resident Evil games use it?

I guess the newer God of War games?

F-Zero. Obviously.

I feel like RE9 has more F-bombs than the rest of the series combined.

I'd better give my own list soon! The following excellent games could use a mouthful of soap:

Resident Evil 2 (Remake): To answer Zero's question, RE has had the F-word since RE5 but RE7 really cranked it into overdrive (a little too much IMO). This makes for an especially tough question since the M-rated go-to GOAT for Nintendo fans is RE4, but Leon watches his mouth a little more in that one. Perhaps to avoid offending the president's daughter, or that little dude who runs the castle. Anyway, he's more of a sailor in RE2make and we get a few effers in here. Remake or not, I thought this was the best RE since RE4.

Resident Evil 4 (Remake): They may have taken out the ballistics line but they added in bombs of a different sort. RE4make is the best RE since RE2make which was the best RE since RE4 which itself was even better than the previous best RE game, RE2. You with me?

999 and Virtue's Last Reward: I'm inclined to agree with NW's top sweary pick but 999 is no slouch either. The heavy language kind of enhances the dramatic, life-or-death scenarios in these games.

Danganronpa: Like Ace Attorney if everyone was super high-strung and tweaked out and murderous. Another great and intense game.

South Park: The Stick of Truth: The only game on this list that largely uses swearing for comedic purposes. This is an almost-great Paper Mario-like that is one of the best uses of a license I've seen. The late-game Canada section is a pitch-perfect blend of RPG and South Park. But there's plenty of colorful language to go around either way, your F-bombs can hang out with all their other friends.

Resident Evil Requiem: Hey, a newcomer! This one's an honorable mention since I think it's not quite there with the remakes, but it's a great time and there's plenty of moments for the main characters (and presumably the player) to fire off some salty cusses in fear.

All in all, it's kind of a toss-up between the two RE remakes and VLR. They're all pretty close.

@Secret_Tunnel
Haven't tried those but it's interesting that none of them quite reach greatness for you.

Do they say “fuck” in Red Dead Redemption 2? I can’t recall but I bet they do.

Also, if it counts, listening to my brother in law swear while playing Marvel Rivals is the most F-Word to good game ratio I’ve played

@TriforceBun I find the lack of love for Danganronpa on this forum disturbing.

I also want to say they say the F word in Paranormasight, which is another absolute must play.

One of the reasons I stopped playing Bayonetta was their overuse of this. I don't love cursing in general, but I can cope. At a certain point, though, it becomes annoying and stupid, and Bayonetta definitely hit that (and then beat it like a dead horse). Game seemed fun, but not fun enough to put up with the language choices.

This kind of dovetails into a question I find fascinating, how much is too much? Recent RE games are right on the line for me in terms of excess violence and cursing, and today's M-Rated game is pushed way further than most M-Rated games in the N64 era (compare Perfect Dark with RE7, for instance. Both M but they're worlds apart).

Oddly enough, Bayonetta was one of those games that I abandoned not because of the language but because the biblical imagery was making me uncomfortable. All the brutalizing of "angels" (or close facsimiles) and such. I had similar problems with Persona 5's final hours.

Not sure if these really count as "best" but the more recent Mortal Kombat games use the ol' F-bomb and the games are pretty good. And like the 'South Park' games, when they do use the word, it's mostly for comedic effect.

For what it is worth, the first game I heard the F-Bomb dropped in a game? Bloodrayne on GameCube.

GAMECUBE.

A console many consider the most "kiddy" of "kiddy" consoles. Of all time. Funny that, eh?

Also, not sure how many of you have played Driver: Renegade on 3DS...but wow brace yourselves for some IMMEDIATE R-rated language right from the start.
