As much as I loved the DS and Wii games, I didn't much care for Rhythm Heaven Megamix. Some of that was Megamix being kinda bloated, but also I think the novelty of these games doesn't strike me like it used to. I'm sure this new one will be pretty, catchy, surprisingly sweaty fun like the others, but I'm not sure I'll bother picking it up.
Coincidentally, I sold all my old games last week, and Rhythm Heaven and RH Fever fetched a pretty penny, well more than I paid for either of them when they were new. Fever was the most valuable game I sold, by quite a margin, which was not at all what I'd expected.
Also coincidentally, I played through Rift of the Necrodancer last week, and it has a handful of minigames that are, uh, heavily inspired by Rhythm Heaven. They're delightful as a side dish to the more traditional Guitar Hero-like experience of the main game. |

Loving it so far. Some things about it that I think Fever did better (or much better) but also some things I think this game actually does better so I guess it’s a trade off.
Generally it seems like themed remixes are either gone or heavily reduced, which is a bummer. Also I’d have to agree that the art in this game just isn’t as robust and the game feels a little more bland in that regard.
That being said , so far themusic has still been great and they have really great ways of messing with your vision. I also appreciate more usage of several buttons, where I feel like Fever relied more heavily on one button games. Also even if this game recycles some ideas throughout, it looks like it has a lot more content, which is interesting. Can’t wait to play more.
Edit: (Just some observations about the amount of content in the game, so if you’re blindly going through the game, check back until after you’ve seen the credits). Apparently in regards to content and number of main songs, while there are 16 total rounds, everything after round 6 is a sequel song, kind of like how something like Built to Scale 2 worked. So that’s pretty a little disappointing. I guess it’s only 4 songs less than in Fever, though you could argue these games all seems bit more bland in terms of the art and animation. I’d love to hope they’ll do DLC, but I would probably doubt it with something like this. [/quote] |
