I've played through the tutorial and the first World. Yep, it's more Boxboy! That's all I wanted, and I got it.
Quick deets: -- If you got the special costumes in Boxboy, they carry over to Boxboxboy! There are new ones as well. -- You can also buy little comics starring Qbby. They're cute. -- The game does indeed follow the grand conclusion to the first game's story. The epic tale of Qbby continues.
I don't even remember how the first game ended. Not that it matters I'm sure But yeah, more BoxBoy! I did a couple of worlds this afternoon and it's fun. Simple but fun and I expect it'll get hard later, much like the first. Looking forward to playing some more!
It's crazy how taking a break from a stumper and coming back a few hours later can help make the solution seem obvious in hindsight. I've done that like a dozen times throughout. So close to finishing the Final Extra World...the final part of 16-7 is tough to squeeze through. I've managed to pick up all the crowns so far, too, so 100% completion is close!
Took me a bit over 11 hours to finish, which was about the same as the original Boxboy. That sort of confused me, because I felt like I had a much harder time with Boxboxboy than the original. I booted up Boxboy, and it looks like it has more stages than the sequel does. But I think Boxboxboy's difficulty curve starts elevating much earlier than Boxboy, so I guess it makes sense that it would take longer to get through fewer stages.
Also, I completely forgot that the final bonus World in Boxboy actually uses the dual-boxes gimmick, so Boxboxboy's gimmick isn't even exclusive to it, haha. It definitely uses the gimmick to much better effect, though.
Gonna have some boxy action at work today and at bedtime tonight. Glad this is such a bargain-priced value for such an awesome and well-worthy franchise.
