MH3U: Capcom adds cross-region multi and off-TV play!

"We’re pleased to confirm that a software update will be released in April for the Wii U version of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate as a response to Capcom community feedback.

The software update will add online cross-region functionality, allowing European and North American gamers to play together online in up to four-player battles. Monster Hunters will also be able to play the game using just the Wii U GamePad without the need for a TV screen as the software update makes the title compatible with off-TV play.

Capcom will be continuing to support Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for several months after release with additional free of charge downloadable quests for both Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. The first quest will be available at launch.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate releases across Europe on 22 March for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS™, both at retail as well as on Nintendo eShop.

Why not sign up for a (free) account?
Wow, that's what I like to see from developers: working to make their software as appealing as possible in light of community response.

Very nice! Good for Capcom, and off-TV play is a huge deal for me. No reason not to buy now!

Here's hoping for a day-one eShop launch in North America...

Wait, did I read that right? DLC for the 3DS version, too? Interesting.

Not really, only Wii U-owning Negative World can play together.

Yeah, there's really little incentive to buy the 3DS version at this point if you own both a 3DS and a Wii U (unless you're a hardcore Monster Hunter player). I liked the demo on 3DS (played remarkably well without the CPP and looked great), but I'm not that hardcore of a Monster Hunter (yet).

If they could work online play into the 3DS version, that would be huge, but I'm not sure how much more space they have on the cartridge.

I figure they could have had online play in the 3DS veresion...Monster Hunter 4 is supposed to have online play, right? Or is that just rumor right now? Besides, Resident Evil Revelations has online play, and I'm pretty sure the cartridge size is just as big, if not bigger, than what they are releasing Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on.

And yeah, the 3DS demo of Tri Ultimate played rather well, even if the game itself isn't necessarily my cup of tea. Though on *another forum* a bunch of Sony fans have been whining about how unresponsive the controls were, and how loose the Circle Pad felt. I'm not sure if it's just because the controls are a bit different from what they are used to on PSP, or if they are just butt-hurt fanboys because their once "Sony-only" 3rd party franchise is only available on a Nintendo platform now.

I care not for this franchise, but I still think this is awesome.

I've never played Monster Hunter, but the inclusion of off-TV play makes the Wii U version much more appealing to me. I would just pick up the 3DS version, but online play is pretty important to me since I wouldn't get the chance to play any multiplayer without it.

Bravo, Capcom!

Capcom, my hate can only be appeased by localizing Gyakuten Kenji 2.

I...might not need to get the 3DS version, now. Huh. Thanks, Capcom!

Don't they play on EU servers? Which would mean...they can play with us?

Yes, but they've been on this "BOYCOTT!! BARGAIN BIN!!" kick, so they'll probably EXPLODE when they come in here finally.

Now to wait for this to go on sale so I can mitigate the money I burnt on MH Tri Wii

Or maybe I'll take your approach, but with AA vs Prof Layton.

If I don't see that game, then no deal.

Get a real camera in that game and ill be much more interested. Demo seemed cool (even though they threw me in there with ZERO explanation as to SHIT) but that camera control is a joke. What's wrong with full camera control instead of these weird presets? Can't they include both?

Wow and I just spent the money I was keeping to pay for this. Guess I will have to find the cash somehow.
