Something must have gone sour between Nintendo and Ubisoft. Not even a timed exclusive, that's a massive delay. LinkUBISOFT®'S RAYMAN LEGENDS NOW COMING TO XBOX 360® AND PLAYSTATION 3®
London, UK - February 7th, 2013 - Today, Ubisoft announced that its forthcoming title Rayman Legends, already announced for the Wii UTM system from Nintendo, will also be released on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. All versions will now hit shelves in early September 2013.
The Microsoft Xbox 360® and Sony PlayStation® 3 versions of Rayman Legends are being developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, the same team behind the Nintendo Wii UTM game. Rayman Legends has been praised for its stunning visuals and innovative gameplay by media around the world and labeled as one of the most anticipated platformers of 2013.
"We heard from many Xbox & Playstation owners and Rayman fans who told us they really wanted to play Rayman Legends on their current system", says Geoffroy Sardin, EMEA Chief Marketing & Sales Officer. "We decided to give the fans what they wanted while at the same time broadening the audience exposed to this innovative and memorable game."
Rayman Legends retains the fantasy appeal of its predecessor while adding a multitude of clever and entertaining gaming modes, new characters, new environments and a new soundtrack. The award-winning team of artists, designers and composers from Origins has also returned with an advanced UbiArt engine to include multi-dimension gameplay elements, an improved lighting system and updated game rendering that elevate Rayman's graphics to the next level.

I'm... not super shocked. It always seemed a bit odd that it was a Nintendo exclusive anyway, considering that the first was multiconsole.

I'm not surprised that it's coming to PS360, but I am a little surprised that the game is being massively delayed on Wii U. Why not just release it on Wii U now, and other consoles later? People were already disappointed with the Wii U's post-launch lineup, but Rayman was the light at the end of the tunnel. This blows.

I'm not shocked by losing exclusivity, but releasing in September? The game was the only demo on the very first in-store units. This truly sucks. After Pikmin and Animal Crossing, this was my most wanted game and who knows when we'll get any of those three. Also, if this is the "very interesting" news, then RichIGN is a true lame.

@rebonackWhat an asshole. He's supposed to be an ambassador to Nintendo fans and instead he trolls them. You can absolutely tell from his tweets ("Not my problem you guys assume things, come on. Be realistic.") that he knew exactly what he was doing.

Hmm. Digital downloads then. Have you played The Cave? It's not bad. Zen Pinball 2 is coming soon. Runner 2 should be awesome. @Jargon Oh he knew exactly what he was doing. He probably gained a bunch of followers from this, considering that it got posted as "news" on places like GoNintendo, etc. Hopefully he loses even more though and learns his lesson. The weird thing is, why not just say something like "unfortunate" news or whatever? You would still gain the followers (maybe even moreso), and then you wouldn't be a dick afterwards.

@PogueSquadronHave you played the Wii U gamepad stuff? It's pretty cool, definitely better than the stuff in NSMBU. Also it was built on Wii U so there's a good chance it will be the best looking version.

@PogueSquadron Well... a lot of the multiplayer stuff uses the GamePad in very neat ways. If you're going to play it with Amanda (as I know that you will) the Wii U version will still have the edge there, I think. /edit Oops Jargon beat me to it.

@PogueSquadronTo be fair the Wii U version will still have exclusive features, I just wonder if they are going to add things to the other versions as incentives. I bet Nintendo are pissed, they are publishing the game in Japan.

The Gamepad stuff is okay, but Amanda didn't really enjoy it all that much. If I'm going to be playing it solely by myself, then I don't know...Might just have to play the waiting game and see where it goes cheapest. 360 probably isn't an option since I hardly ever play it anymore, but I sure wouldn't mind having it in my Steam library for years to come.

And...there goes the one Q1 Wii U game I was really looking forward to. Can't believe Ubi is leaving this game to die, releasing the same month as GTAV instead of during a pretty dry month (with no real competition on the Wii U).

So was the reason for the delay just so it won't be a late port on the other consoles? If so that's total bs.
