With E3 firmly in the past now those frequent knuckleheads, Joe (Ninsage) and Stephen (DrFinkelstein) are joined by Dave (BeardedNerd)!

The guys start by recalling what they've been up to. It's a unique mix of games this time with the newly released Mighty No. 9 and Shantae and the Pirate's Curse are discussed. Dave specifically mentions his play through of Star Fox Command and his experience with two versions of TMNT: Tournament Fighters. Joe's been attempting a Nuzlocke Challenge in his copy of Pokemon Blue and it's interesting to hear how that's going.

Afterwards we have a What Do You Fink segment inquiring about Splatoon and the NX before moving to the meat and potatoes of this episode. In the main topic the guys discuss Mr. Shigeru Miyamoto and his role with the company now. How is it affecting Nintendo? How were things back in the old days and how will things be going forward? Does the average gamer actually have the right to be tired of his efforts? This and more is found inside! Give it a listen!

Negative World's site owner and operator, Zero provides the intro and outro. The 'break' music is a featured track from Mighty No. 9.

Woohoo, I love the shout-outs! What a thrill! Very cool episode. Dave was an excellent guest, and do I hear correctly that he has a retro-game room? Well well, so do I! Sure, it's in a bit of transition currently, but I like where I'm headed with it. Too much stuff for too small a space is my problem, but it's a good problem to have.

Now, my one teensie weensie slight minuscule issue with this episode is the final discussion of the evening, regarding Mr. Miyamoto's current responsibilities at Nintendo. I more or less disagree completely with everything that was said here. About Miyamoto himself, the conversation seems to me to be super presumptuous in assuming we know exactly what he does in the first place. Sure, there's certainly place to criticize, but he is somebody that will forever get the benefit of the doubt from me. And for his tastes in helping creating games for himself, I want nothing else from the man. I hope his role at Nintendo remains integral as long as he continues to smile his magical smile of wonder and whimsy.

As for Nintendo generally, I also disagree with several things said. First off, Joe, your experience with GameStop and Zero Time Dilemma is in no way reflective of a problem with Nintendo. It's a problem with GameStop and perhaps Aksys, the publisher. The notion that it's Nintendo's responsibility to overstock other publisher's niche games at specialty retailers is crazy talk. Second, Nintendo IS a children's company. Or a family company, if you're being generous. The industry aged away from Nintendo, not the other way around. Their commitment to family entertainment is beyond admirable. Third, I think Nintendo should be trying to chase the Wii/DS market and not the Xbox/PS market. That 'gamer' market is as good as gone, as far as I can tell. To chase them would only ever work if Nintendo were to stop being Nintendo, and that price is too high in my book.

My thoughts on all this go much deeper, but get jumbled the more I type. These topics are brilliant discussions for the podcast, though, despite my reaction to them. I still love you guys tremendously and anxiously wait the next listen!

@Koovaps

Sounds like you need to come on the show and provide us a counterpoint! Hmm??

Glad you enjoyed it Brandon. Specifically on what he does for Nintendo, we did have to take a presumption based on his recent game credits and with the restructuring after Mr. Iwata's passing. It would be nice if we could somehow gain a better view of what Mr. Miyamoto is doing now as it appears unclear.

@Koovaps

Brandon, you ignorant slut.

jk jk jk jk jk jk jk!

I hear you and in the not-too-distant past I've definitely argued in favor of the points you've raised. I think the only thing that has changed is I've given up hope that anyone but Nintendo will do anything differently. So I feel like, even though it's not right, it falls to them. =\ BUT, I could be wrong.

And when it comes to ZTD specifically, I blatantly overlooked how limited that run of production was always going to be. As I said in the ZTD thread, I remembered hearing that somewhere but when I got to the stores and kept getting nada that info got buried more and more in my memory when the opposite should have been happening.

But yea, you should come on the podcast sometime and we can talk about it! Even if you can't make it for several weeks or months, I'm sure these issues will still be relevant =)

Much love to Koovaps.

I think I've put it off long enough. I will have to try to get on the podcast. I have no more excuses!

:) - What would you say your ideal availability is?

@DrFinkelstein

Well, there's the rub. I don't know that I have an 'ideal availability.' I just end up having free time randomly. I'll see if I can't figure something out, though.

@Koovaps

Perhaps we can plan some time then. Joe and I might try to record a show later this week but my schedule is super up in the air due to travelers. We were gonna go without a guest this time. Perhaps you might have time thurs or fri night? Is it too soon to tell?

@DrFinkelstein

Probably not this week. My wife had back work done just last week and while recovery is going relatively well, my attention is focused on her right now. Soon, though.

@Koovaps

Okay. No worries. We're going to record a small show tonight as I have friends coming from out of town. We can keep it short and sweet with two people. Hope your wife heals soon! Definitely give her your attention. Enjoy the weekend!
