Merry Christmas Eve listeners! I'm jolly, wearing red, and I come bearing gifts! Here is the first of two episodes releasing tonight. We recorded this episode earlier this week and it was quite a treat.
Joe (Ninsage) and Stephen (DrFinkelstein) spent an evening with Paul (Ploot) and Dave (BeardedNerd) to see what they've been playing and then take a look back at what games kept their interest on Wii U this past year. That segment was used as a means to lead into the main topic.. which was moved to the next episode due to total podcast length! Lots of great discussion here despite.
I was hoping to get to part two today, but I had company so couldn't listen. Finished this first part on Tuesday, and it was great as always. All the Poketalk always has me wanting to jump in, but now is not the time for me. I do want to say, though, that Super Mario Run is pretty great, as far as I've played. I think it hits the mark for what they were going for. It's all about the coin collecting, and it's fun. And it also happens to look pretty great on that tiny screen, that's for sure. Unfortunately, the always online kills it for me. Playing on an iPod means it's nearly impossible to just pick up and play wherever I'm at, so I will not be unlocking the full game. Bummer, because at 10 bucks, it's a steal. Looking forward to part dos tomorrow.
@Koovaps Oh man, I forgot to talk about the always online aspect. Yeah, it's awful and I don't blame you for making that a deal-breaker.
@DrFinkelstein The "functionality" is to make sure it's a legit copy. It's a crappy form of DRM. In fact, if I'm watching Netflix and playing at the same time, the game will sometimes have short freezes throughout a level as it performs its awful DRM. It's a fun game, but that is certainly a big issue.
