Which games are y'all picking up with the Wii U? [roundtable]

I'm trying to be strong, but Newegg is a foul temptress, with its $12 off all pre-orders (code: EMCJNJD242)!

So far, I've pre-ordered NSMB U, Zombi U, Pikmin 3, Monster Hunter 3U, and Wii Fit U. I'm tempted to get Ninja Gaiden 3, as well, for some reason.

The only real lock is Monster Hunter, though. I could cancel any of the others, depending on their reception/my desire to play them. In fact, there's a good possibility that I might cancel NSMB U. I've been playing through NSMB DS, I just got NSMB 2 in the mail, and I never even finished NSMB Wii. It seems rather stupid to get the new one right away. Plus, everybody else will have it.

I just added Zombi U to the list. It may not be the best third-party game, but it's the only one that seems novel and interesting. Waiting for reviews.

Pikmin 3 will be great, but I still haven't started Pikmin 2. I'm curious to see if Team Ninja can save NG3, but it's nowhere near a sure thing. And Wii Fit U is a complete mystery. How much will it actually cost? How many new mini-games will it include? If they throw in a bunch of new games and retain all of the old ones, I'll buy it for a low price. As of now, I have it pre-ordered for $48, but there's no way that it'll actually cost that much, right?

Nintendo Land is the game that has me the most excited, but it'll be packed in. Maybe I should just stick with that + downloadables?

Stupid Newegg!

I'm getting Mario and that's it. I'll get something else when I'm done with it.

This is the new me.

Mario for sure... ZombiU if it reviews well. I'm not expecting another Red Steel but you never know. Batman I want eventually but not at launch. It should drop in price fast enough considering it's just a port with a few extra features.

On launch day I am gettin, in addition to the free Nintendo Land, NSMBu, ZombiU, Call of Duty Black Ops 2, and Darksiders 2. I am also buying a pro controller. In the launch window I plan on getting Lego City, Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, and Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate.

At the moment, Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros. Wii U. That's all I can afford for the moment.

I'll likely pick up Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, and Rayman Legends at some point after launch (maybe around my birthday).

Nintendoland and Mario. I would like to get ZombieU, but not immediately.

I will likely stick with Nintendo Land until after Christmas and then pick up Mario in the new year. I may also give ZombiU a rent or buy depending on the length of the campaign. I will be picking up Wonderful 101 and Pikmin 3 in launch window and then hopefully Monster Hunter at the end of March depending on whether there is an online region lock.

I'll be getting Mario and Nintendo Land at launch, which should be more than enough for the first month or two.

For launch, I'm most eager about NintendoLand! But I'll also nab NSMBU on day one as well for good platforming fun.

ZombiU is a "maybe but probably not," depending on reviews and if my brother/friend will get it. Sixty dollars is a lot to drop on a game so I have to be pickier than before. I would like to at least try it out at some point, along with the HD ports that I've never played (Batman, Darksiders). There're even a couple wild cards--Scribblenauts, Epic Mickey 2, Sonic Racing--that could end up being strong. But for right now, just NL and NSMBU.

Unfortunately, it looks like Rayman Legends has been pushed all the way to March!

@Jargon
Damn, that came up in my search, but I thought it was just a list!

I saved up all year for this and passed on a lot of 360/PS3 games, so I may have gone a bit(or maybe a lot) overboard. At least I will have plenty to play in the event of a post-launch lull.My current launch window list, all paid off:

Deluxe console
Pro controller
Turtle Beach headset
NSMBU
ZombiU
Assassins Creed 3
Epic Mickey 2
Madden 13
NBA 2K13
Call of Duty Black Ops 2
Batman Arkham City Armored Edition
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor's Edge
Lego City Undercover
Scribblenauts Unlimited
Darksiders 2
Skylanders Giants
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
Pikmin 3
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
The Wonderful 101
Rayman Legends

@DeputyVanHalen

Holy smokes, it's a backlog nightmare! Be sure to post impressions here once you try out the lesser-known games.

Good gravy man! You sure won't be lacking for content...

Probably just NSMBU (and Nintendo Land, of course). I'll probably pick up some downloadable stuff too, but I don't feel like dropping a ton of cash on a bunch of games, especially since I'll already be in for $400 with the console and NSMBU. Not to mention stuff for other consoles coming out in November, like Paper Mario, Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion, Persona 4 Golden, etc. Plus who knows if I'll even have time to play the games I just listed, let alone more...

I'm really up in the air right now, but I'm leaning towards Gui's style of just getting 1 game at a time.

@DeputyVanHalen
Hm, you know what you're doing I'm sure, but when I went wild at the 3DS launch and bought like 6 games I ended up regretting it, a lot of those $40 games like Pilotwings Resort and Nintendogs I only put a couple of hours into and I ended up just playing Ridge Racer 3-D the majority of the time. I totally could have got by with just buying 1 game at launch.

@deathly_hallows

This, I vowed to go easy at Wii U launch and I will do just that. No backlog for me this time.
10/16/12, 18:48
NSMBU, ZombiU and Wii Fit U.
10/16/12, 19:15
Yeah, I'm with @Guillaume, @deathly_hallows, and @warerare. Just one at a time mostly because I'm not sure how much time I'll have. That plus the availability of games in the eShop should make them easier to get whenever I want to (in theory).

@deathly_hallows
Well all of those multiplatform games I would've bought at release for other platforms if there wasn't a Wii U version. I agree about the 3Ds launch, but that one the only game I bought was Pilotwings. It's possible there's a couple duds in that list, but all of them are games I legitimately want.

@TriforceBun
I will be sure to post impressions of the less popular stuff.
