What will the other 10 free 3DS Virtual Console be? [roundtable]

Nintendo recently announced that they will be giving away 10 free NES games and 10 free GBA games to 3DS early adopters. They have already announced 5 of the NES games and 5 of the GBA games. However, what no one seems to be discussing is, what are the other 10 games? I present to you my guesses for the rest of these games and hope that you will join in with yours. I believe that all these games will be first party so I'm limiting myself to that.

Already Announced Games

NES
Super Mario Bros
Donkey Kong Jr.
Ice Climbers
Balloon Fight
The Legend of Zelda
Game Boy Advance titles

GBA
Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3
Mario Kart Super Circuit
Metroid Fusion
Wario Ware Inc. Mega Micogame$
Mario vs Donkey Kong

My Guesses forUnannounced Games

Why not sign up for a (free) account?

I'm hoping for these games specifically:
GBA
Metroid Zero Mission
LoZ: A Link to the Past (With a future update for online 4-swords, pleeease!)
Loz: Minish Cap
Advance Wars- (Outside Chance)
GOLDEN SUN

NES
Zelda II- The game shits me to no end, but I might actually finish it if I can carry it around with me as opposed to setting up my GC

...

...

..Hmm. Nothing else I really want from the NES. I have the Mario All-stars disc, so I don't need more Mario. Surprise me Nintendo.

I'm not sure, but I'm guessing that I own EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.

Whaaat? But... your name!

I suspect the rest will be filler titles that they don't think we'd actually buy in big numbers. I hope they prove me wrong - the games they already announced are pretty damn rad - but I think it'll go more like:

NES
Clu Clu Land
Ice Hockey
Mach Rider
Golf
Track and Field (with Power Pad support through complex system of tubes)

GBA
Donkey Kong Coconut Crackers
Gameboy Music
Quake Advance
Black Rodeo!
Samus and Boogerman At The Olympic Games in Sydney 2000

Was Samus and Boogerman first-party?
07/29/11, 17:57
@kriswright I'd probably prefer some filler, since it might mean an obscure, decent game that I haven't played.

@Anand
It was a rare fourth party game. That's right. It was made by space pirates.

@Zero
Good point. I wonder what that'd be, though? I mean, I can't think of any NES 1st party games that I'm still itching to play. There are surely a few on the GBA, though.

Urban Champion - the original.

I think the only first-party GBA game that I don't have is Mario Pinball Land. Come onnnnn, Mario Pinball Land!
07/29/11, 19:14
@kriswright Maybe not on NES because I've gotten many of them on Virtual Console already, but there are probably a few on GBA. Mother 1+2? Mother 3?

Whatever the case, we should do a retro game club based on one of these games when it happens. Because tons of us will have the game, so why not?

If it's 1st party, I think they will probably do this:

NES: Kid Icarus, Mach Rider, Gyromite, Dr. Mario/Yoshi Cookie (either one), Kung-fu
GBA: Fzero, DK King of swing, super mario advance 1, super mario advance 2, mario golf

In all honesty, if Nintendo brings anything else to the GBA, I will be extremely happy!!! Also, what if Nintendo is working on a deal with 3rd party developers?

@shinriley
I think Kung Fu was licensed from Irem, which doesn't even exist anymore. I share your odd obsession with it, though!

Mario Golf on GBA would make me happy. That's one I always meant to play and never got around to. Though I might buy that Gameloft (ew) golf game for 3DS, and how many golf games do you need?
07/29/11, 20:19
I have no clue. I am extremely happy with the GBA games that have been announced cause I never played any of those games since I never owned a GBA. I never played Yoshi's Island on the SNES, so now I will have my chance, plus its free! I always hated baby Mario's annoying whine, but at least on a handheld it will not be so pronounced.
07/29/11, 21:22
Well... actually the sound on the GBA version is much worse than the SNES version because it was compressed in some form, so baby Mario is even more annoying on the GBA version.

It's still a must-play game regardless.

It must be something that is simply too good to announce. Something that would cause so many people to buy early they'd actually lose more money.

Pokemon Emerald
Pokemon Sapphire
Pokemon Ruby
Pokemon Fire Red
Pokemon Leaf Green

We'd triple our investment on the aftermarket this Christmas.

Seriously though,

The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap
Fire Emblem (Either one.)
Advance Wars (Either one.)
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
Wario Land 4 or GoldenSun

@legendofalex

Fire Emblem would be boss!!! Confession: I never got around to be Fire Emblem on GBA, but I did beat Fire Emblem: SS. I would also love to get my hands on Advance Wars. Any of them would be fine with me cuz I've never played any of them on GBA. Just the DS ones.
07/29/11, 22:26
@shinriley

I've never gotten around to a Fire Emblem at all. I've played 5 minutes of Fire Emblem total my whole life and I really want to change that. I hope this will help me with that.
07/29/11, 23:01
@Anand Irem is still around, technically. They seem to be downsizing a lot though. I hope their catalogue gets picked up by another company who would be interested in keeping those franchises around.
07/30/11, 00:28
@Anand

....Taken from the one in Ocarina of Time . Yes I know that was technically Dark Link and not Shadow Link. I don't care.

@kriswright

Hey I went to the Sydney Olympics. I don't remember Samus being there. Methinks your game might be a clever forgery.

It would be nice if they surprised us all and made a secret SNES category with a free copy of Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals. Yeah... that'll happen.

I would love for them to announce the SNES already. The were doing them for 3D Classics, so I believe that they are an inevitability.
