So here's a random question I'm sure youtube could answer, but... fuck it.

I recall from the instruction manual that there was a "short cut foul," but I never ran into it in the actual game. A quick youtube search on my phone didn't reveal any results. Anyone know where you can trigger one of these? I've been wanting to do it for 21 years now. :p

I've only played the Cube version of F-Zero (LOVE that game). I will definitely plop down the $.30 when I get home.

This was a pretty amazing game, in its time. Not sure if it'll travel to a Wii U audience, though. Then again, people seemed to really love Balloon Fight, so I'm sure there's a chance this'll go over all right as well.

Definitely a classic, but I'd definitely recommend the Cube version to anyone who wants to get a first taste of F-Zero.

Remember that you'll get a Post Play Survery for 10 coins on Club Nintendo and the chance to bitch about the slow trickle of Wii U VC and paying to upgrade your games. I'm definitely going to mention that I won't be buying anymore Wii VC games whereas if it was free upgrades it would have been an incentive for me to go out and buy them now ahead of time.

I bought the game and I just realized there doesn't seem to be any way to see a manual in-game like you can with Wii VC. Am I right on that? Seems like a kind of big step back.

I'm looking forward to playing this. I bet it's been over 20 years since I last played it at a friend's house.

Port Town. Either I or II works, but it's more worthwhile for II in my experience. I don't recall if this works with every car. The heavier ones may have trouble. There's a jump right after the starting line. You can't do it the first lap because you'll need a boost. Come down that last straightaway on the left side of the track. when you get close to the jump hit the boost, hold down on the dpad and head perpendicular to the track you just left. When you land on the other side the refuelling machine will pick you up and place you on the track.

I used to do this all the time to get the best times for that track.

It doesn't affect NA.

As for why Europeans got stuck with bad versions of games, it's due to TV standards. They had a different resolution and a different refresh rate, and what that meant for games is that making a proper version for the 50 Hz standard was more trouble than just slowing the game down.

I don't remember if I ever played the original. But I grabbed it anyway, digging into the $5 I got from getting NSMBU digitally. I'll probably fire it up this weekend and find out if I wasted 32 cents of money I didn't spend.

Just a quick update. I tried it out and was able to pull it off with the Golden Fox. The easiest way to do it is to go into the practice mode and select Port Town II.
