Due to some site updates you may have trouble logging in. If so, please clear your browsing data and try again.

In Chrome: Tools -> Clear Browsing data

In Firefox: History -> Clear Recent history

In Internet Explorer -> Internet Options -> General -> Browsing History -> Delete

Mac users:

Chrome: Chrome menu -> Preferences -> Under the hood -> Clear browsing data

Safari: History -> Clear History

Why not sign up for a (free) account?

Sorry Mac people, I have no idea what you do.

Buy a PC.

Deleting recent data didn't help for me in Firefox. I also had to manually delete cookies to get the site to reappear. Unfortunately that only works for one session. Then it goes back to "There was an unknown error. Try again!"

Worst homepage ever. ;)

Any help?

@Infinitywave

I found it seemed to have something to do with the auto-login function. Log in from a different browser or PC, and that should auto-log you off your main one. Then you should be able to sign back in on your main pc/browser as normal.

Hmm. Logging in from a different browser didn't help, but the site does work for me the next time I open Firefox if I log out before I leave.

So it seems it is the auto-log that's killing NW. It's pretty weird.

@Shadowlink
LOL

That was awesome. Post of the day.

The firefox fix doesn't work for me even once.

@carlosrox

Thanks .

@Infinitywave

Yup I just closed Firefox then tried to come back in...boom, error. I'm typing this on Opera now.

It's definitely the auto-login Zero. You can clear it out I guess but the second you re-save the data and then try to come back you get the error again.

Same here. I had deleted the cookies last night because I had gotten the error message, but I had to do it again this morning.

Odd, I had no problem whatsoever. I didn't even know there was a change until I saw this thread.

This post is a little moot...I can't read what I can't access.

I'm just now able to get back on the site. I couldn't at all yesterday.

Yeah, you can't even site the level 0 threads or posts when you get the error.

I posted the info on the Facebook page, but there may still be people who don't follow the page wondering what's going on. Tell everyone you know...

Any way we can send the info to everyone in the Steam group?

I had to delete my cookies for negative world in safari to get back here. It's been like 35 hours or something now. Weird it's been that long already. But I'm back now.

Auto-login is definitely the issue. It's weird too because as far as I can tell the changes I made shouldn't really affect the way auto-login works. I may just have to shut it down for a bit until I figure it out. Better to have to log in each time than to not be able to get here at all.

What is also weird is that everything is working fine for me. I wish I was getting the error, then I'd be able to see it firsthand.

I'd also say though... are you guys using a bookmark that links directly to the forum page? That might be an issue as well.

Ok I believe I may have solved it? Or at least, I found an error in my code that would be leading to the "There was an unknown error. Try again!" part (which actually is really never supposed to be accessed at all) (unless you screw up writing the code, heh.) So it should be sending you people through the login process now, at least. Whether it actually logs you in or not, I can't really test without being on your machine, but I think it should...

Whoever is repeatedly having the issue, can you try it again and see if it works?

/WAIT no actually it'll probably just redirect you to telling you you have a bad login until I fix this next part. But at least it should redirect you to a screen where you can login now. I think.

My username isn't appearing above my Level and XP in the top right corner of the site. My site skin was wonky for a few moments, but I fixed it by switching skins back and forth.

Hmm, that's bizarre. But I think it would be related to what I just fixed. Try to logout (and maybe clear your browser data) and login again and see if it is working?

Logging out and back in fixed it.

Well... I think I may have fixed things, although you guys may have to clear your browser data out again.

Whatever the case, let me know what kind of errors you are still getting, if any. Especially if you are still hitting the "There was an unknown error. Try again!" message, which you really shouldn't be at this point.

Ok so... username not appearing issue still exists, I was able to duplicate that. I think we're getting to a fix, very close now...

Bugs bugs bugs.

Anyway, I think the username issue is fixed. So again I am back to optimistically thinking that the issue as a whole is fixed.

Let me know if you guys are still having trouble. Well, let me know if you are NOT still having trouble as well. Just let me know the current status of your trouble or lack thereof.

Yes, thanks Zero! The site loads normally for me now, no deleting or logging out required.

Better yet, I actually get logged in automatically which is something that stopped working months ago. : )
