Nintendo Unveils Heroes, Mystery and Motion in Second-Quarter Video Game Lineup
Roster Includes The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D with Master Quest, Mystery Case Files: Dust to Dust and Wii Play: Motion with Wii Remote Plus

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nintendo of America today revealed a diverse lineup of new video games set to launch during the second quarter of 2011. Whether they’re playing at home on the Wii™ system, having fun on the go with the Nintendo DS™ family of systems or discovering the new Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system, consumers will have a wide variety of engaging, inclusive experiences to choose from as Nintendo and its publishing partners unleash more than 50 games in the coming months.

“Games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Wii Play: Motion offer exciting additions to some of Nintendo’s most popular franchises, while our third-party partners continue to provide blockbuster gaming experiences for Nintendo systems.”

A June 19 launch date has been set for The Legend of Zelda™: Ocarina of Time™ 3D, a re-mastered edition of one of the most acclaimed installments in The Legend of Zelda series, created exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS system. Wii owners, meanwhile, can look forward to the June 13 launch of Wii Play™: Motion, which includes 12 new motion-controlled games and will be packaged with a black Wii Remote™ Plus controller. Upcoming games also include Mystery Case Files™: Dust to Dust™ for the Wii system, which combines the seek-and-solve fun of the puzzle-based series with adventuresome story elements, multiplayer modes and the intuitive motion control of the Wii Remote™ controller.

“Following a tremendous launch for Nintendo 3DS, our roster of upcoming games for Wii and all of our hand-held systems will keep the momentum going strong into summer,” said Marc Franklin, Nintendo of America’s director of Public Relations. “Games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Wii Play: Motion offer exciting additions to some of Nintendo’s most popular franchises, while our third-party partners continue to provide blockbuster gaming experiences for Nintendo systems.”

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D brings a completely re-mastered version of an epic entry in the beloved The Legend of Zelda game series to Nintendo’s newest hand-held system, Nintendo 3DS. The game couples phenomenally enhanced graphics with stunning, glasses-free 3D visuals to bring to life the daring adventures of its hero, Link™. A streamlined touch-screen interface and newly implemented motion controls provide a fresh and intuitive feel as players immerse themselves in the tale of the creation of Hyrule and the struggle for control of its all-powerful ancient relic. The game will also feature new challenges not included in the original game. The Legend of Zelda veterans can look forward to the Master Quest – a second quest with revamped puzzles and redesigned dungeons that feature the same graphical and interface upgrades as the main game. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is a masterful improvement on one of the landmark releases in video game history.

With the June 13 launch of Wii Play: Motion, Wii owners will be twisting, turning and enjoying themselves like never before, whether they’re newcomers to the console or have already discovered the fun of the popular Wii Play game. From catching a gust of wind by tilting an umbrella to fending off garden pests by swinging a mallet, each of the 12 included games will have players smiling wide as they use their Wii Remote Plus controller (or Wii Remote with Wii MotionPlus™ accessory) in a variety of interesting, sometimes unexpected ways. Wii Play: Motion comes packaged with a Wii Remote Plus controller – which combines the original Wii Remote controller with the precision of Wii MotionPlus – to deliver great value, precise motion control and immersive social fun that anyone in the household can pick up and instantly enjoy.

Mystery Case Files: Dust to Dust brings the intrigue and sleuthing of Big Fish Games’ Mystery Case Files series to the Wii system for the first time. The game transports players to the enigmatic Malgrave Island, where they must hunt for hidden objects and solve puzzles to collect a magically powerful dust scattered across the island. Anyone can delve quickly and easily into the game’s rich seek-and-solve action, using the Wii Remote controller to examine multi-layered hidden-object scenes, locate cleverly concealed items and obtain inventory items that will help to overcome brain-teasing obstacles. Multiplayer features allow players to team up and crack the case together or face off in a competitive hunt for hidden objects. (Additional controllers are required for multiplayer features and are sold separately.) No matter who’s playing, it’ll take sharp eyes and a keen mind to get to the bottom of Mystery Case Files: Dust to Dust.

Third-party publishers will offer a spectacular range of new software for Nintendo systems in the months to come. Among the upcoming games for the Wii console are Konami Digital Entertainment’s Karaoke Revolution Glee: Volume 2 and Disney Interactive Studios’ LEGO® Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game. Nintendo 3DS users can look forward to a May launch for TECMO KOEI’s DEAD OR ALIVE® Dimensions, while Warner Bros. Interactive’s Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters is set to launch simultaneously for Wii, Nintendo 3DS and the Nintendo DS family of systems on June 7.

Why not sign up for a (free) account?

Hey, this really is news! I'm pumped about the Master Quest confirmation. And I'm looking forward to more MotionPlus. Even if the concepts never get developed into full games, I enjoy these sampler platters of what could have been.

Don't care about the Hide-and-Seek game. Those are weird, because they're kind of boring for longtime gamers, but also too difficult for kids who love I Spy. I guess they are just targeted at adult browser gamers. Other than the first-party stuff, that Wii list fucking sucks.

Also, I have too many Wiimotes, WTFFFF. And why is it black again?!

"fending off garden pests by swinging a mallet"

So that's where Project Hammer went to!

That Whack-a-Mole game looks fun!

What the hell are the top and bottom of the box, though? Is the bottom curling? And the top... a Mary Poppins sim?

Looks like I'm going to have to pick up the game separately off eBay. I hope Wii Play Motion has 4-player minigames, since I have 4 M+.

The top is the "catching gusts of air from your umbrella" (so yes, a Mary Poppins sim) and the bottom looks like disc golf of some sort.

Why so late? Why was this not a thing earlier? Seems weird. Seems weird because I don't know why they'd be releasing it so late in the Wii's lifecycle unless one of two things:

A) The Wii 2 is still very far off.

B) (And this sudden thought is very, very interesting) What if the Wii 2 uses the Wiimote Plus standard? That's not something I ever considered, but think about it, it makes sense. You've already got a buttload of people comfortable with the Wii Remote, it works fine (maybe toss in a wireless nunchuck), and then it's almost a gateway into the next console.

Hmmm...

Hrm. Looks like the 3DS is the only system getting anything I'm interested in. Namely, BlazBlue and Dead or Alive. It's good to see fighting games showing up on Nintendo's portables again. The DS had so few fighting games, it made me sad. I mean, what was there was good, but those games were far and few between. Looks like the 3DS is picking up where the GBA left off, so I'm quite happy about that!

@-JKR-
That might be the ONLY possible explanation for shipping so many Wiimote+ units - with game bundles, as the standard controller... I think you've hit the nail on the head. And bluetooth is a universal standard.

@anon_mastermind
Haha, why? Isn't canoeing the only game that uses four M+'s?

Oh, the sports games, too, I guess.

And I glossed over the descriptions. I was just looking at the box.

Ocarina of Time has also been confirmed for a June 17th release in Europe.

They want to help increase sales for the next Zelda, get more people used to using Wii Motion Plus using the Wii brand then really push the marketing on Skyward Sword

But you KNOW that Nintendo is going to bundle Skyward Sword with Motion+, too.

@anandxxx

Will they? I'd be surprised if they don't, but then again... they didn't bundle Majora's Mask with the N64's Expansion Pak, which was required to play the game...

@anandxxx

But would the casuals pick up the peripheral with Zelda? They may pick up Zelda though if it uses this fancy peripheral they only have 2 or 3 games for.

So THIS is the pre-E3 lineup that Nintendo didn't want to reveal so as not to take the spotlight off the 3DS launch?.

Ha.

Haha.

Hahahahahaha.

Anyway, now we know not to expect either Xenoblade or Last Story before E3. So either they are not coming out, or they will actually try to give those games some marketing. Heh.

What do you think this horrible Wii list says about the timing of the Wii's successor? Announcement at E3, arrival early next year? It can't hit Holidays, unless Skyward Sword is another multiplatform Zelda. On the other hand, if Wii 2 is backwards compatible, it wouldn't be beyond the realm of possibility.

@GameDadGrant
Whaaaat? R U sure? I thought Majora's Mask WAS bundled, along with DK64. Only Pak-optional games (Turok, Perfect Dark) weren't bundled, right?

@warerare
Yeah, for the same retail price. One thing Nintendo wouldn't want anyone to do is pick up a game (or, worse, receive one for Christmas) and then not be able to play it.

GRANTed (ha ha) but MM was a super-uber core game for a VERY specific audience. And before the blue ocean strategy of going after everyone and their sister. I think this is a whole different ballgame.

@Guillaume
Give them marketing, you're a riot! So yes, that means they aren't coming out here.

Because of the Layton thread I'm picturing you sobbing through your posts.

I like your idea of the Wii2 using WM+ as a standard. Especially since I have five remotes now (four with WM+).

@anandxxx
I wanted to have one remote of each colour.

By the way, anybody here want to buy a black Wiimote with motion plus attachment in great condition? PM me your offer.

Grant is right. I had to go out and buy one for MM and Perfect Dark (I never had DK64).

What's up with the harps on OoT's box art? I'm assuming it's Sheik's harp, but still... Random.

Ocarina of Time 3D is rated E10! Does this mean the red blood is coming back? (I doubt it!)

FINALLY!!!!

You guys don't know how long I've been sitting on this (Wii Play: Motion), thinking that Nintendo once again changed the release and are going to make me look like an idiot. I've heard GREAT things about this game and I'll be able to get hands-on with it very soon. Yeah, I'm excited.

And this is before the E3 reveals, which are gonna be great.
