You can now flag threads, replay the NEQ and auto login will be off next week

After the 3DS news, more Negative World news!

Simbabbad coded two new features some people asked for:

- You can flag threads to find them more easily. To flag/unflag a thread, just click on the grey icon on its right. It'll then turn black (if it's a standard thread, a little flag will appear on it), and the thread will be marked as "flagged" in its topic. Contrarywise, if you click on the icon of a flagged thread, it'll unflag it.

Of course, flags are kept between sessions. They'll still be here if you log off then log back in.

To easily find them, you can filter the board to display only flagged threads by using the search form.

- If you have completed the NEQ, you can replay any level. Of course, you won't earn any XP, but you can access them simply by choosing the level you want to replay on the NEQ page.

Also, auto login will be removed next week, on Monday. This decision has been taken to tighten up security. You can still use the "remember your login information" of your browser, of course. You have until Monday to either use your browser options or learn your login information by heart.

EDIT: New feature: if you haven't unlocked all skins and set your skin of choice to the daily skin, you'll see a skin you haven't unlocked yet on weekends.

Why not sign up for a (free) account?

Replaying the NEQ and flagging threads? Um, thanks I guess, but who would even want to do those things? Pretty useless if you ask me.

DEMOD!

I like the idea of flagging threads. Pretty often I've found myself trying to find a thread and being able to flag certain ones could be helpful. As long as I remember to flag them before I lose them that is The options are cool though

Oh wow, removing auto login is one of my least favorite ideas ever. I respectfully and fully disagree with this.

How long does a login last? Throughout the day when I'm at home or at my computer I just have to hit Command-1 on my Mac and my browser opens up Negative World. If I get that homepage, I just hit it again or I click on the appropriate link. That's fine. But to throw even another step into that, quite disappointing. This could be quite annoying but I guess it does depend on how often that login stays. I like that Yahoo at least stays for a week or two. But if I'm going to have to login in, every single time I come here, it's going to possibly slow down how many times I do come here.

To all of you I might sound like I'm whining but I feel like this concern is perfectly valid.

So Negative World (the mod, not the collective whole of the site), what is the duration of a log-in? Will it last a set amount of time or just how long your browser is open (even if I close out the windows, like how Myspace did it)?

I love the thread flagging idea, it's so much easier than searching! Especially if there are a couple of threads you are trying to keep track of, you would have to search for them one by one.

My only comment is that it's not so obvious. Yeah, users should be reading this thread but a bunch won't, and the buttons never used to do anything so people may never suspect that they now do.

@Zero

Well, hopefully if people check out the search options and see "flagged", they'll suspect that they can flag threads somehow.

@Simbabbad

Hey, that's invasion of privacy!

Hm... how about a skip any level the no more heroes one feature on the NEQ? I'd like that!

Really? YES! *goes to check*

Hmm ... that's what Travis yells on a finisher. We're getting somewhere. Still don't get it though.

I shall investigate this.

Flagging is awesome. No more auto-login is a bit of a downer, but whatever. I use Firefox, too, so maybe it won't be a problem.

Chrome has that feature too. And Safari

@GelatinousEncore

Where can I find this option in Safari (which is what i use)?

As long as you don't close the browser, it shouldn't log you out. Of course you can also set it to remember username and password.

@DrFinkelstein

I understand where you are coming from, but it was a necessary casualty of the new security system.

Yes. The new security system which is replacing the nearly non-existent one I designed before. It's definitely much needed now that we are expanding and trying to get a more public presence.

To encourage weekend posting? That's a good idea. (Ladies Night Sunday, with Double XP?)

I find the removal of auto-login to be annoying. I personally always ignore my browser's auto-login feature, since most sites already offer auto-login. Now I'll have to go find some way to enable that. How dare you guys cause me to spend 30 seconds looking for that

@Simbabbad Well yeah, but I asked it to never remind me again. So now I've gotta look up how to change that. That's seconds of my life I'm losing!

Oh, we were talking about infiltrating girls' forums?

My alternate joke was about 'pink skins'. Neither was funny or even sensical. I can't play blue...

Anyway, Zero's got the scoop on the girly gaming sites. I think he crossplays at those places, or something.

@Simbabbad Sweet, thanks. I took Negative World off my list of password exceptions.

I vaguely remember Secret Tunnel talking about stretching their forum.

"Secret Tunnel" indeed.

Two for the sink, one for the pink.
