EDIT: What! Might not be accurate! Aaaaah Destructoid curse you Jim Sterling
Well then I might as well move my Super Monkey Ball 3DS preorder over to Pilotwings Resort. Unfortunately I'm not a huge fan of any of those franchises so I'll probably only get Pilotwings Resort. I wasn't even a HUGE fan of the originals but I have fond memories of PW64 and I love Wuhu Island so it'll be worth it likely. Then there's all the other DS games I have. I'll still pick it up at launch.
Plus Destructoid says that Nintendo claims the list will more than double in size by early June, so I'll have games for it eventually.
It's a submarine game, with a 2D mode and a 3D aiming mode, I think. And, yeah, Miyamoto has been pretty high on it since it was a tech demo for the original DS.
Hmm, more games than the Japanese launch line-up. No Layton 5 though. Which is maybe good news, probably means Layton 4 is still coming.
I'm looking at Pilotwings Resort and Steeldiver at launch myself. I hope hope hope that Pilotwings wasn't uber casualized. Nintendo is pretty good about not actually stripping down their franchises for casuals (despite some people's claims that they do) but the whole only having one island thing scares me. And it being a launch game kind of scares me more, I'm not sure if it wasn't just sort of rushed out.
@Zero It seems like Nintendo could easily add a shit-ton of content in short-order, though, especially if the environment is already created. I do hope we see at least a new section of island, though. Hopefully more.
They're doing the "5 minute limit" thing again, with the "find the landmarks" thing again. It's really hard for me not to think that they're rushing out a Wii Sports Resort port.
I guess I'm worried because I really didn't like the flying in Wii Sports Resort. A whole game built around it should have a lot more going on but eh... kind of seems rushed to me.
One thing they damn well better have is different weathers and times for various missions. That was a big part of what made Pilotwings 64 so impressive.
Oh! I just realized that in 3D I might be able to actually tell where the targets are in the rocket pack mode! It was so ridiculous trying to figure out if you were really over one, you had to switch to top view camera but then you couldn't see what else was going on...
@Pandareus Do you mean as a mode, or is this what the whole game is!?
Weird that neither Starfox nor Zelda are anywhere to be seen. I guess they're putting a bit more into those remakes than I suspected. I think Starfox will be pretty kickass. Still iffy on the Ocarina port.
@GelatinousEncore Me, too. I like this launch, though. It's funky! Pilotwings will benefit from 3D, and if Steel Diver is good enough for Miyamoto, it's good enough for me...amoto.
Also, there are some third-party heavy hitters here, at least by the normal standards of a Nintendo launch. Not too much unique third-party stuff, yet, though. No Feel the Magic or Pinobee.
