Looks like Rocket League is turning into a free to play game this summer. If you have already bought the game, you get a Legacy status and some free gear. That's cool, I suppose.

Another small piece of news related to this, for PC gamers, it will be leaving Steam and coming to the Epic game store. Anyone with a Steam version can still play it there, but you won't be able to get it new on Steam once it launches on Epic. You will also be able to use an Epic account to have your profile available on multiple platforms, if that is the kind of thing that appeals to you.

Anyone who was interested but never got around to trying it? Now you have no excuse! A bunch of you better play it with me!

It will be free to play on all systems it is on, which is PC, Switch, PS4 and Xbox One. It's also cross-platform though I forget if you could do cross-platform friends but with the Epic account you almost certainly will be able to.

I bought the game twice as well, PS4 and Switch. I already have an Epic account so I may link one of them that way. Ugh, I actually bought stuff on the Switch version but my PS4 version has much more time logged. Decisions, decisions...

@Zero Yeah crossplatform parties have been in there for a while now.

Ugh all these accounts...I had Rocket League on Steam but then got it on Switch too, and to do cross-platform there's like a Psyonix account you have to exchange with people. And I have an Epic account for Apex Legends, which I play on rare occasion with a few friends. Only now Apex is going to Steam, so I was like, yay no more Epic account! Except no, now I'll need to keep it for Rocket League eventually.

Accounts, maaaaan. Bumming me out with all these accounts, dude!

I also own the game twice. I miss playing on XBox One for convenience though. My PC isn't readily available on the TV at all times. Just got the Switch version last month. I guess that's an extra month or so that I got to play it. If I knew, I probably would've asked for a different birthday present, haha.

Anybody who hasn't played this yet, here you go... best online game I've ever played and one of the best multiplayer games period.

We can now pick up and play from the same account across all platforms too, right? May as well play on my Xbox One X when I'm at home from now on for prettier visuals.

Edit: PS4 it is. Xbox version still requires online subscription. Psh.
