A simple news story… Nintendo Account is now open for North American registration.
Sign up now and soon get access to the initial features. More are surely to come!
Nintendo Account is Nintendo's attempt to unify their platform which should hopefully lead to a future of cross-talking consoles, handhelds, online content, etc. My Nintendo, Nintendo's upcoming Club Nintendo replacement, should be requiring the sign up of a Nintendo Account so get going!
So that's what I did. I wondered why you guys were raving about this awesome smooth sign up experience. Mine was so 'smooth' I wasn't even sure what I'd actually signed up for. Somehow I figured that's not what you guys meant.
This was on Nintendo Australia's site culled from their Facebook feed:

You can now create a Nintendo Account using your NNID, social network accounts or email address. Register before the launch of Miitomo in March to receive bonus Platinum Points for the new My Nintendo rewards program, launching simultaneously with Miitomo! Visit Miitomo.com to create your Nintendo Account!
So I clicked on that Miitomo link, clicked on the preregister option, then got directed to 'Create a Nintendo account and Preregister'.
Linked my NNID, plugged in my password and then...Preregistration complete? OK, I guess?
So did I sign up for Mitomo or Nintendo Account or both? I don't know. But there's nowhere I can sign into 'My Nintendo' as of yet...
I'm not sure I even care about Mitomo, I just saw the words Nintendo Account.
Vof is right. The name for your Nintendo Account is not unique, and you can change it at any time.
Yes, but can you change it to something someone else already has? (And if so, how are you supposed to find that person via search in a sea of Canonjs? I mean, I was seriously considering Canonj as my name, but thought "No, it's surely already taken!" So I went with JK Riki instead.)
