I'm so ridiculously happy that I'm not sure I'll be able to sleep now. Nintendo does care about us after all. *sniff* EDIT: Aww, not up yet in Europe.

I've never played any of the Mother/Earthbound games. I've been meaning to purchase Earthbound ever since its VC release, just haven't done it. Maybe I'll just start with this one since it's the first chronologically.

That's pretty huge! I'm happy for the fans of that series and hope Mother 3 is next.

@cooliocuneoI love Mother 1 to bits, but it's very old fashioned in its RPG-ness, so if you don't react well to grinding and simplistic 8-bit presentation it might be better off to start with Earthbound after all. If you're up for some Famicom adventuring it's a great little game, though.

I'm sure it's going to feel extremely dated, but I'm buying it right away just to support this type of localization. If you have any desire of seeing Mother 3 localized too you better buy this!

Awesome! Now, since I have barely played Earthbound, I can actually play it in chronological order and experience the story right. How much is it, by the way?

So real talk here... is this game going to be too dated to get into for Earthbound fans? People who have played Mother 1, what do you think? Now that I think about it I have never played an NES era RPG...

I was playing a game of Smash online as Lucas when I glanced at my computer to see this news being streamed. I frantically jumped away from the other players so I could see what Itoi was talking about and still keep myself in the game. As the reveal wrapped up, I found myself in a sudden death situation and won! Not only did I win, but so did RPG fans and Mother/Earthbound fans. I'm so excited that this game was announced, and I'm really looking forward to playing it for the first time.

@ZeroFor fans of Earthbound and its quirky nature, I don't think Mother 1 is going to be too dated. It will probably feel very dated to pretty much everyone in the tech sense, but those that love the same things I love about Earthbound probably won't care. Mother 1 is old school, but it's got a lot of heart.

Hmmm.... I would definitely play an official release of Mother 3 but I don't think I'm a big enough Earthbound fan to go back to the OG, I like to play FF1 and Dragon Warrior but those bring back memories, not sure if I'd really want to play an NES-era RPG if you take away the nostalgia.

I had to do a double take with respect to this thread's title. I'm seriously surprised. And seriously delighted. Hearing the roar of the crowd during Itoi's reveal was super rad. How can one not love/respect this man.

I love how Nintendo declines to release this game outside of Japan for decades and then, out of nowhere it's like "We're releasing the game....... TODAY!!!!!!!!
