Greeted by an old man with a banjo on the boxcover, Phalanx is actually a side-scrolling shoot'em up set way in the future. 2279 is the date, and you are Wink Baulfield, a genetically enhanced pilot, taking control of the experimental aircraft: the A/144 Phalanx. The target destination is the planet Delia, a world in peril, and set to be colonized. Like other classic games
Gradius and
Life Force, you collect upgrades to enhance the abilities of your ship...and you're going to need them.
As seen (with great confusion) in many
Angry Video Game Nerd opening sequences!
