I am very early in this game and it's still throwing all the mechanics at me. Hopefully Guillaume's review is right about figuring it all out eventually. I have to say, I really do like the tabletop conceit so far.

Only played a bit here too but from what I played I like it and felt like its my kind of game. It was a day 1 purchase as soon as I read a while back that this game has dice (i think read it from Kat Bailey's Guild 1 preview on joystiq). The fact that FFTactics maker Yasumi Matsuno made it and its quirkiness just adds bonus points to the purchase. I heard Guillaume talk about his review on RFN and was happy with his review and score.

I'm interested to hear what other NW impressions are on this title. If you like fantasy board games (like me) or table top RPGs you'll probably like this game. If you enjoy RPG video games its one to look into and for $8 on the 3DS just pick it up. If you don't believe me check out Guillaume's review the man stakes his very reputation on this game review.

Hahaha, let's not be too dramatic!

If I have one piece of advice for you guys, it's "buffs matter". Much more than rolling the dice, the buffs will help you hit the target and do more damage. Takes a while to get your characters decently powered up but once you have, the battles are over quicker.

I plan to get this game soon. Finishing up The Last Story and depending on when that happens, I'll be starting this up afterwards. Sounds like an interesting RPG.

Gui's review makes it sound pretty fun (except for that one part, which sounds awful). Actually, all of the Guild 01 games seem pretty fun. Poor Level-5!

This game is starting to piss me off. I'm stuck in underground palace, and cannot advance until I find a key, which according to what I've researched, only appears as a random drop from a group of enemies that I've battled well over a dozen times. What would make someone design a game like this? I've wasted over two hours of play time trying to get this key. SIGH.

@TheOldManFromZelda It's excessively stupid and vague, but you've got to kill the skeleton archers first to get a skeleton mage to appear. The mages drop the obsidian-whatever, that you use in the really dark room that had the minotaur. The extremely vague hint is Frea saying the item is a curse to mages, which I didn't even realize was the hint until long after I got past that part.

@VickiL

Yeah I got that part. More often than not, after killing the archers, more of them show up. I get one mage every 3 battles. Very frustrating.

@TheOldManFromZelda And you're still not getting the drop? Damn. Now, I only say this because I did it wrong like three times, but maybe you got it in that pile of loot at the end of the fight but you didn't equip it to your character when you went into the dark room? Same for when you find the seal in the dark room; I think you have to equip it to use it. But if I'm confused and you're stuck somewhere else, sorry! I'm playing through a second time right now and got stuck a little farther in; I have no idea how or why.

Gotta say, I enjoyed this game, but, those required random drops really can be dreadful. Progressing in a game shouldn't feel like trying to get a Crissaegrim in SOTN.

I finally got past that part literally 10 minutes after writing my complaint.

I'm disliking how vague/obtuse/otherwise absent the directions are.

Sticker Star was obtuse, but at least you could think your way through problems.

Beat it!

What a depressing ending!

@TheOldManFromZelda Yeah, between this and Radiant Historia, I asked myself why I keep playing these games!

@VickiL

Glutton for punishment, I guess.

Picked this up since it's on sale and really enjoying it. I must say that I find the concept of not leveling up to be really interesting for an RPG. I know everyone will tie leveling up with RPGs but the fact that you don't means that you can't just grind to overcome challenges. Choosing the correct gear, skills and buffs is what ultimately determines if you succeed or not and that's a lot of fun. I guess you can still grind for better drops from enemies though... but it's still a fresh and enjoyable change.

This game is good. The combat system is really solid and the presentation is great for a downloadable game.

Finished up in about 9 or 10 hours. Great game. I actually started new game+ straight away, need to get that real ending. And everything carries over, and the enemies are tougher. Fun!
05/31/13, 18:34
Whaaaa? There is a "real" ending?
05/31/13, 19:38
@Guillaume
Yeah, didn't you think the ending was kind of anti-climactic? The second play thru should be pretty brisk as you can skip all previously read text.

SON OF A BITCH

I didn't know that!!! I already deleted the game. I'm too lazy to re-download it!!!!

I need to get back into this. It's so easy to put digital games on the backburner.
