...did anyone get this?

I'm curious about it, but I have plenty of other stuff to play!

I didn't get it but I'm kind of an ardent defender of it! I played the demo and even though it wasn't really my thing, I thought the movement controls were pretty neat and this game has gotten way too much hate from people. I think it's cool when Nintendo thinks outside the box like this, especially when they're making new IPs instead of relying on spinoffs. That said, it's a budget title and it seems pretty lacking in modes etc as a result.

I like that it appears to do something more unique and interesting with its controls, but for me, the biggest turnoff is how bland everything looks. It's got no style, you know what I'm saying?

Didn't play it, no interest in buying it. I always like seeing these control scheme experiment games, but like @Mop it up says it lacks any notable character outside of that. The "customizable" avatars all look like drab robot BMXers in a dimly lit skatepark. Nobody's ever going to mistake Splatoon or ARMS for another game, but at a glance this is just slow-mo Rocket League.

And yeah, the feature set seems pretty limited, which wouldn't necessarily be a huge issue if it the presentation was more enticing, or if the gameplay really jumped off the screen at you, but they don't.

Plus I assume I can't even play it locally with friends unless I sink an entire paycheck into some more Joycons.

@nate38 It actually does not have local multiplayer at all, this game is online-only.

@Mop it up

Ouch! I'd had the same thought as Nate about local multiplayer, that's nuts (or maybe makes sense?) that it doesn't even have it. Wonder how many people are playing this game online.

I almost wonder if they thought putting any kind of style or character into the game would’ve risked coming off as insensitive. This game does look cool but I have to wonder if it would’ve been better as a part of a larger Wii Sports style game. And then we all say “Oh the package is fun but Drag X Drive is definitely the best par,” kind of like how we talk about Monkey Target.

@PogueSquadron I had a similar thought, this game feels like a marketing minefield. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the marketing department at Nintendo told this dev team "It takes some serious gall to come back to us with this game after we reluctantly allowed you to release Everybody 1-2-Switch. We respect that kind of audacity. We'll let this game slide, but make it bland so no one notices it. Now drop to your knees and give 20 respectful bows."

If they had titled it Legs it'd probably have sold better for the eight-year punchline alone, but that does feel mean...

This game is only half the game that ARMS was.

Too soon?
