Is anybody else playing this? I've been waiting for its Switch release since it was originally announced and it doesn't disappoint! If you love 90's style shooters, this one is based on a suped up Build Engine of Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, and Shadow Warrior fame.

The Switch version is only running at 30fps, which might bum people who are sensitive about that out a bit, but it hasn't been an issue for me. The reason why I still opted for the Switch version (aside from the option to play in handheld, of course) is because of the gyro assisted aiming. They nailed these controls! It's second only to Splatoon 2 in this regard, and it makes the game really fun to play.

I really encourage you guys to give this game a try if it sounds up your alley.

I really wanted this game. It looks awesome and has gyro support, but I'm bummed that it's not 60fps on Switch. Hopefully, they can patch it to 60fps. Actually, Digital Foundry did an analysis, and it runs at an unlocked framerate if you input the Konami code! So up to 60, but not locked.

I've never really played too much Build engine stuff, in general.

Whaaaat? I'll have to give that a try. I was bummed to hear about 30fps as well, but then I have adopted the philosophy of "eh, I highly doubt Duke Nukem 3D was ever running beyond that on my piece of crap Packard Bell PC in the 90's and I didn't seem to mind." So it just adds to the retro experience! Really the game is still highly playable, and the motion control feature more than makes up for it... might be a better buy on PS4 if they ever add the motion controls to that and is almost definitely a better experience on PC for mouse and keyboard if you are a PC gamer at all (I'm not).

Have to warn you, the game can be a bit tough if you've never played a Build Engine shooter. I actually used easy mode as some training wheels since normal seemed too hard at first, but then I went back to normal mode since it wasn't a satisfying experience without the threat of dying. It's more fun to fear the enemies. The game is worth getting good at.

Another thing I know a lot of people are drawing issue with is the humor. Yeah, it's stupid and juvenile, but that was never why I liked Duke. I thought he was a douchebag even when I was 13, but that over the top ridiculous kind of thing works in shooters like this for whatever reason. You can play in "silent protagonist" mode if Shelly gets annoying. Some of it makes me chuckle.

Edit: So I see why the developers chose to lock the maximum framerate option under a code. It's nice when it's running smoother, but it's much too jittery. It's nicer to play at a locked 30FPS overall.

The Digital Foundry guys made a good point about the unlocked framerates: They're really going to pay off if a Super Switch ever gets released.

Patches are coming.

Got this 2 months ago when I got my new PC but I only put like 5 mins into it (was only checking it out, was planning on playing other games first) but I liked what I played.
