Pokemon Ruby was the first Pokemon game I really got into and so I am looking forward to returning to the Hoenn Region after all of this time. I have so many fond memories of making a secret base and all of that jazz and I can even remember once beating all of the contests in Lilycove.

Returning to Hoenn is like returning home for me but I have already vowed not to do so untill I have completed the pokedex. And a little help there would be nice but I'm almost finished.

But still. I am looking forward to returning to Hoenn.

The wait is finally over - I am beginning my triumphant return to Hoenn after....so many years. Who else is on a journey to become the very best?

....or is everyone too busy playing Super Smash Bros. for Wii U at the moment?
Posted: 11/22/14, 17:36:55
Not me. I still don't have a Wii U.

Also, ORAS have not arrived in stores here in Brazil, yet. I don't even know if I'll dip into it right now, since I'm trying to save up cash. Y'know... for a Wii U... For Smash. But I will get this game eventually and I will hype around like the good boy I am. Just you guys wait.

That last thing. Though for me it's actually more that I've spent a lot of money on gaming and other non-essentials in life and I need to hold off for the moment. I'm hoping to get this for Christmas though! I own the original Sapphire so I'm considering going with Omega Ruby this time. Do we know the differences yet between the two copies of the game?
Posted: 11/22/14, 17:52:11

I'm not certain of the differences between the two versions, but the Pokedex does show some of the monsters now have different types.

Found this information here.

My playing through this has been rather slow, mostly due to "NEWGAMEBER" taking up my time with the very awesome A Link Between Worlds right now. I should go full tilt into this once I'm done with that game though, which should be in a day or so. (er...well, I guess I'll go "half-tilt" since half of my time will be with Smash Bros. of course)

Anyway, wanted to drop this PSA: There is a Shiny Beldum available if you connect to the internet with Mystery Gift. Even comes with a Mega Stone! Get it while it's available.

How long is it available? I'm hoping to get this game for Christmas but I'm not sure it'll happen.

How are you enjoying the game?
Posted: 12/18/14, 15:21:45

It is available until January 14! You've got plenty of time, so no worries!

In other news, I put more time into the game last night and won my 2nd badge: the Knuckle Badge! It was fairly easy, to be honest. Brawly's fighting-type PKMN were no match for my flying-types!

What's your team right now?

Pokemon - Level - Key Move

Posted: 12/19/14, 04:51:16
I am so tempted to unleash primal groudon on the last gym it's not even funny.

I'm going to post that even though I wasn't asked to

Revolver Ocelot (Marshtomp) - 58 - Surf, Earthquake

Vulcan Raven (Metagross) - 59 - Meteor Mash

Big Boss (Shiftry) - 60 - Leaf Storm

Kazuhira (Manectric) - 57 - Wild Charge

Fortune (Camerupt) - 58 - Earthquake, Flamethrower

Raiden (Altaria) - 59 - Draco Meteor, Ice Beam, Moonblast (He's made to take down dragons)

I'm currently making my way through the post game Delta Episode. I'll post my extended thoughts on the game soon.

I very much appreciate your input. I'm always curious about what teams people decide to go with. I hope pokepal148 and GameDadGrant share too. Was yours kinda this way from early on our did it change often as necessary.?

Pokémon - Level - Key Move

Beautifly - 18 - Gust/Absorb

Beldum - 17 - Zen Headbutt

Zigzagoon - 15 - Cut (HM 'mon for my party)

Combusken - 20 - Flame Charge

Wingull - 16 - Water Pulse/Wing Attack

Nincada - 10 - Harden? I guess? I just caught it, so it's not really a full-fledged "member" yet, ha ha.

This is an odd team for me - I usually stick with Water-Types, especially when I choose my starter. But for some reason I decided to go with Torchic. Just for a change of pace.

I settled on that team before I got the fourth badge. Before that, I changed things up a fair amount. Swampert, Shiftry, and Metagross have been with me since the start.

Since Metagross and Shiftry came from trades (download events are treated as trades), the experience points they gain from battles is boosted to 1.7 times the normal amount. By the time I was at the third gym, 4 of the 6 pokemon on my team had come from trades and were getting 1.7 times the normal amount of experience. This broke the game's balance, placing my levels ahead of every other trainer without any grinding. So I ended up switching off half of my team for Electrike, Camerupt, and Altaria (in the unevolved forms). It was a pain at first since they were a good deal behind the rest of my team, but in the end I'm very happy with how they turned out.

I traded my Lotad for a Japanese Seedot. I think they appear on the route to the west of the second town in Omega Red. Could be wrong.

Thanks! I'll take a look. I presume it's an NPC that I trade with?
Posted: 12/20/14, 05:23:29
No, I used the GTS to trade with someone from Japan. According to Bulbapedia, Seedot appear in the wild on route 102 in Omega Ruby only. If you have Alpha Sapphire, you'll have to find somebody to trade with.
