Did you play any Smash this weekend? I didn't, but I totally wanted to and I just might tonight. Welcome to the wonderful world of Round 2! I just want to quickly say Thank You to all those who have voted so far. We've had a strong turn out and it's made for some exciting results! As we take some time to review who won Round 1, we'll then learn who you'll be voting for in Round 2! Set your stock, ready your timer, it's time to Smash ahead!

Hammer Bracket
The winner of Negative World's last bracket, Squirtle, was up against one of the newest newcomers to new a new game, it was our buddy Cloud who surprised us all with his presence and his unique move set. It was that uniqueness that allowed him to beat out that water-starter Squirtle. It wasn't a major landslide but it was enough. Peach, however, managed quite a landslide against Dark Pit. Evil clones just don't have anything on Princess Toadstool. Pac-Man and Bayonetta were two other newcomers to the Smash Scene but it was rather decisive that Negative World appreciated Pac-Man's curves more than Bayonetta's. Speaking of curvy, Kirby, Sakurai's baby, smashed Zelda to pieces with a strong victory.

Dr. Mario and Lucas was an interesting matchup. For me, Dr. Mario is one of my all-time favorite puzzle games and I've never really played any Earthbound. That said, Lucas won over our collective hearts and moved forward. Ryu showed up on the scene and had quite a lot of hype behind him. Unfortunately for him, the classic Hero of Time was not to be stopped. He was just too solid of a character to have Ryu take the lead. Next was the Mewtwo and Wario duo. Both names end with Os but only Wario could yell, "Oh Yeah!". A fart of his wafted out and sent Mewtwo back to it's cave. Finally, the closest matchup of the round, Rosalina & Luma versus Luigi. Things started off strong with many votes for the galactic royalty but Luigi surge in the end with seven of the last eight votes coming for him. Still, two votes short, Luigi was once again second fiddle to another in the Mario universe.


Dragoon Bracket
The second bracket started off with a Fire Emblem obliteration! Corrin, the DLC that nobody wanted, was up against a solid and strong Fire Emblem favorite, Ike. With a fifteen vote difference, Ike moved forward. The next pair was also from their same franchise with Meta Knight and King Dedede. Two of Kirby's antagonists but in this case bigger was better with King Dedede taking more than two thirds of the total votes. A closer match was found with some old school characters. Yoshi put up a consistent fight but Mr. Game & Watch awkwardly entered his way into the next bracket. The fourth matchup pitted two ass-kicking women up against each other. Lucina was a fun character but she was a clone nonetheless and Sheik was able to separate herself from her opponent.

Wolf found his way into the next bracket, despite not finding himself into the most recent games. When he was missing from the Wii U and 3DS versions, there was much outcry but as far as Negative World is concerned, Sonic, Nintendo's old rival, was more beloved as a fighter and earned more than double the votes of potential-clone Wolf. A rival of Mario, Donkey Kong, was up against one of Nintendo's newer characters with Captain Olimar. Many praised the uniqueness of Captain Olimar and his Pikmin crew but Donkey Kong earned nearly three times as many votes. The last two match ups in the Dragoon Bracket were INCREDIBLY close! So close in fact that up to the last vote, both groups were tied! It was Hero_Of_Hyrule who placed the last vote of the round and thus ended up solidifying the fates of the Ice Climbers and Captain Falcon. Bowser Jr. couldn't defeat the Ice Climbers despite my own wishes and the fact that the Koopalings are the awesome alternate costumes. Captain Falcon had falcon-punched Mario, Nintendo's pride and joy, right square in the face. He showed us his moves, and he moves forward to Round 2.

Cloud vs. Peach
Cloud looks way more fun to play than Peach, despite her positives.

Pac-Man vs. Kirby
Tough call here. Kirby is of course very cool but when I am in my zone with Pac-Man and I'm zipping around the level at a high speed and with a punch, I prefer him over the much slower Kirby.

Lucas vs. Link
Not a tough call at all. Lucas is fun (and I prefer him over Ness) but Link is more well rounded and an awesome swordsman!

Wario vs. Rosalina & Luma
I'm still not sure if I've picked the right one… This was the hardest matchup of this round for me. I like both characters a lot but a well-used Fart-blast and a Motorcycle escape wins over this for me.

Ike vs. King Dedede
Both of these guys are some of my favorites. I think I'd have to go with the slower but more cartoony King Dedede on this one but hell, I'm happy with whoever moves forward.

Mr. Game & Watch vs. Sheik
Sheik is just not that great by herself. Mr. Game & Watch is an ever-quirky character I enjoy playing as.

Sonic vs. Donkey Kong
Pretty tough call here too. Maybe it's more about the music and the stages but I love Sonic and his recovery move so much.

Ice Climbers vs. Captain Falcon
I just don't get the appeal of the Ice Climbers. Captain Falcon is way more fun.

When it comes to characters I don't really use, I go for personality over swordsmanship.

G&W for sure. As far as I'm concerned, it's time for Sheik to be replaced with Impa.

He's the leader of the bunch. You know him well.

Ice Climbers vs. Captain Falcon
Popo and Nana have their work cut out for them this round. But I gotta vote with my heart.

The only super tough one for me was Pac-Man vs. Kirby. I think Kirby is probably a better character, but I pretty much never use him, because he is my brother's main and you can't use your brother's main. Pac-Man is pretty good as well, but I actually use him sometimes, so... he won that one.

Pac-Man clobbered Bayonetta? I didn't expect that at all. I'm also a little surprised that Captain Falcon beat Mario. Pleasantly so, I guess.

Toughest one of the round. I like Link quite a bit in Smash 4 especially, but Lucas has the edge for me.

Wario vs. Rosalina & Luma
Another tough one, like 'em both, but Rosaluma's puppet creativity didn't quite reach the potential I imagined from its trailer.

Ike vs. King Dedede
The two Brawl newcomers I was most excited for! (other than Sonic, of course). While I still like the King, I ride or die with the Merc.

Mr. Game & Watch vs. Sheik
Sausages > needles.

Sonic vs. Donkey Kong
Even I have to give it to DK here. I've never quite got the hang of fighting as Sonic...or against him.

Ice Climbers vs. Captain Falcon
As much as I'd like to see F-Zero come back from the dead, I'm still jonesing for that Ice Climber sandbox reboot...wait, what were we doing again?

Cloud is a fantastic fighter, but the cherry on top is hearing the classic Final Fantasy victory tune when he wins.

I enjoy how unpredictable Pac-Man is.

The Hero of Twilight easily takes this one.

Wario vs. Rosalina & Luma
Nothing against Wario, but I just find fighting against Rosalina less annoying.

I like Ike.

G-Dub for sure - he's the warrior of gravest intentions and of darkest pitch.

Kind of a wash. I don't overly like either one, but I have more of an attachment for Sheik because of OoT.

Eh, both are so fitting of being in Smash that it's hard to choose...but Sonic is a better rival for Mario IMO.

Ice Climbers vs. Captain Falcon
I never really liked the Ice Climbers all that much, and Falcon's been there since the beginning.
