Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was the much anticipated sequel to the original Genesis hit, released in 1992. The game once again features Sonic the Hedgehog saving his roboticized friends from the clutches of Dr. Robotnik, now with the help of a cunning new sidekick Miles "Tails" Prower, a two-tailed fox. Building off its predecessor, Sonic 2 has nearly twice the content of Sonic 1, feature new and more stages, more enemies, more bosses and more powers, like Sonic's now-trademark the Spin-dash, and the ability to play as the invincible Super Sonic. The game also features co-op multiplayer in which one player controls Sonic, and the other Tails, and a VS. race mode. The game is highly regarded to this day as one of the best in the series.
The game was released on the Wii Virtual Console and several Sega collections.
